FYI: We have had numerous complaints about losing out on bigs for the 2011 class. But it looks like it was a blessing in disguise based on the current status of a few of those recruits.
6'10 260 Kevin Johnson (Seton Hall) ... still isn't eligible, pending 6'7 Damiene Cain (Colorado) quit the basketball team to focus on academics 6'9 Ronnie Stevens (Hawaii) ruled ineligible, will play at a JC
It also looks like the 2011 bigs that we did get (Deshawn Stephens and Garrett Green) will be much more ready to play next year. Has anyone heard the status of Deshawn following surgery? I think he should be back practicing very soon ... if not already?

Maybe the staff knew a little bit more these potenital issues than our board "insiders."

I don't think Bigs will be an issue in our Conference because there aren't too many dominant Big men....Drew Gordon is decent but he's not a 1 rd pick type of talent. Our guards are going to be overwhelming. If our bigs could just be serviceable, we'll be just fine.

I have realized over the past couple years that he is not some 40-somethin', up-start coach. He has been doing this for a very long time. He knows the ins and outs. He understands what it takes to win "college" games. He knows how to get the kids to respond. We are very fortunate to have him.

I'll say thanks to Fisher instead of some mythical human creation. Coach deserves the credit.

I don't think that the point of Pokinsy's post was to suggest that every single big who was recruited by SDSU and went elsewhere has turned out to have issues. But, it looks like that was the case with the three mentioned in his post and that there is no need for anyone to fret about missing out on Kevin Johnson, Damiene Cain or Ronnie Stevens.

Size is good. Late 1st is possiblity. Too bad he didn't come here.

He will be lucky to be drafted. I will go on record saying he won't be drafted (assuming it remains 2 rounds)

Here is what you don't get -- it dates back to high school where all he would work on was his Jump shot and no post moves. it is still that way today. There is no way anyone who has watched him play thinks he has a solidest game. Same move EVERY time. Turnaround fade away right handed hook shot. He has never developed anything more.

And here I thought sour grapes were the staple of UNLV "we didn't have a high interest in that guy..."! Had Gordon become an Aztec he would have been the ticket to continue the ride back to the dance. He would have been the Aztecs best player, rebounder, post defender etc. etc. My guess? he'll go for 25 and 10 both games against the Aztecs with NMex winning big at home and maybe here too. Pros? maybe late 1st.

Not saying anything about Gordon as a successful college player. I am simply saying his game doesn't translate to the next level.

Bogut was the number 1 overall pick and is having s very nice career with the bucks
