Looks like Canepa reads this board, because that topic was brought up here yesterday and bingo Nick writes an article on it.

If he has a big year and remains healthy, I’m thinking ciao, adios, sayonara.
Memo to Nick: Would you please stop. He is a only a Sophomore, only three games into the season. To be honest with you, I think you sportswriters care more about creating controversy or a 'buzz' than writing a well-thought out, insightful story these days. Just another reason I am glad I don't waste money on the local rag anymore. Kman out

I don't think him staying at State through his Junior year will hurt him in any way. He just needs to stay healthy long enough to get his 2nd contract in the NFL. Get the rookie contract that pays you low, kick ass, and hit the payday.

Look at where that 'declaring early' thing got Kawhi. With the lockout and no resolution in sight I wonder if he has any regrets. Not that I think he is going anywhere after this year, but for Nick's benefit here goes: 'Stay Ronnie Stay'. Kman out

Ronnie is eligible for the NFL after this year. Will he do it? Who knows but a 13-0 season would probably hustle him off to the NFL.

Plus if he was in a BCS conference putting up these numbers, there could be enough hype behind this, but going up against the likes of Army, CPO, WSU, is not like lining up against the Steelers, Ravens and so on. The kid just got to 192 pounds and there's a long season still ahead. He can do what he likes, but IMO he should stay through his Jr year. He should have more national exposure by that time, more time to grow physically, and would certainly go in the 1st round....If he can keep up this pace.

"that fat moron" only reported the facts. Rocky apparently did not know about the rule but Hillman does.
Good to know this now so we can start recruiting a high profile RB.

Canhepee isn't worth an empty can of peas.
This is an after season comment and again, what a low-life for making this comment the week the Aztecs roll over some podunk middle east US of A college...

I agree with K-man. We don't need Canepa sticking his nose into an impressionable 20 year olds head on big game week. This is a post season article at best!

Dudes a stud, but just wondering if his size could be a concern with NFL scouts? He has bulked up recently, but is still 15 or 20 pounds less than Faulk was in college.

At least a junior year to get bigger and work on other skills like pass protection and route running/pass catching. Let's not push him out the door! Marshall left AFTER his junior year.

Something I don't see mentioned here yet, in relation to the article, is Marshall Faulk's take. In effect, he said "I'm a big SD State fan, but if Ronnie has a big year, he should go". Obviously I am paraphrasing, and I could go and look at what he said exactly. Point is, who cares what Canepa writes...it is Marshall's opinion that matters more to me, and likely to Ronnie. Wouldn't even be surprised to find out that Ronnie is being mentored in some capacity by Marshall.

From the article: • Ronnie KNEW he could declare • Marshall thinks it may be a good idea. (something about the clock ticking that all great NFL RB's hear.) • Nick wrote what many of have been thinking (only if our head was not in the sand) • Several members here are too used to pointing fingers (Ronnie declares because Nick writes an article? ) • We need to appreciate everything that great RB does in an Aztec Uni

I am not surprised that the question was the subject of a Canepa column. It's called news. What does surprise me somewhat is that Rocky didn't know. Or, was that Rocky just being Rocky to the media? If he really didn't know, then Canepa asking the question did us all a favor in that the staff can think about it in terms of recruitment. Me? I think it was Rocky pulling Canepa's leg, but then again... The Fred Noonan School of Navigation.

Was it not Canepa who wrote an article on how SDSU should shut down its football program a few years back? please correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember reading something along those lines.
