I read 1 comment & it was a pretty poor criticism of Fisher. Laramie should have been content with Rat-Boy! JMO

That entire athletic program is in shambles. Seriously.......I mean, how does your STARTING QUARTERBACK suddenly decide to transfer?

This is not unprecedented. In his first year or two on the mesa Fisher made a very big stink about the New Mexico coach bring fired. I don't remember that guys name, but I do remember Fisher spoke up against his firing big time. I believe he also spoke up against the firings of Rat Boy, Cleveland, and Giacolletti.

Yes, losing ACS is a huge and unexpected blow - especially to a team that went 3-9 last year (1-7 in conference). No explanation was given for his decision to leave, but it was voluntary and it clearly took the Wyo. coaching staff by surprise. Also leaving are two Wyo starters who would've been juniors next year: stud safety Shamiel Gary (named First-Team Freshman All-American - transferring to Okl. St.) and kicker Ian Watts (academic casualty). In addition, Wyo went through last season with less than 70 players on the roster (80 is the limit).

I don't know this for certain, but I am pretty sure that the College Basketball Coaching Fraternity is a pretty close group. For Coach Fisher to say something means that his friend (or at least contemporary) was given a raw deal. And he is correct, it sends a negative message to the young men that the coach in question is leading.
Wyoming athletics is in a tailspin.

Why would Fisher want terrible coaches to be fired? Answer he wouldn't.
Fisher knows it is in his best interest if lousy coaches at UNLV, Wyoming, Fresno and Reno are allowed to remain. Easy wins for Fisher.
Who honestly believes Fisher wants to recruit or coach against big time coaches like Reggie Theus who would wipe the floor with Fisher in recruiting?

Totally unnecessary to fire a coach in mid-season. Nothing to gain except total humiliation and embarrassment of the HC. If I were looking for a job, Wyoming would be way down the totem pole in places to go.

SDSU and the MWC can only hope Theus becomes UNLVs head coach. Talk about easy wins plus when UNLV goes on probation for 2 years due to violations more easy wins.

He knows he needs good coaches throughout the entire conference in order to raise the conference's profile. The more good coaches we have in the MWC, the more respect we get nationally, the easier it will become for the MWC to earn multiple at-large bids to the NCAA's. It's about the competitiveness of the conference as a whole. It is totally antithetical to the interests of the MWC to sink to the level of the WAC in basketball, where they're gonna struggle to get a team in The Dance other than the auto-bid, even if someone other than Utah St. wins the tourney.

If you read the article, Fisher doesn't say that Schroyer didn't deserve to be fired. He is criticizing the way in which he was fired.

Yes, losing ACS is a huge and unexpected blow - especially to a team that went 3-9 last year (1-7 in conference). No explanation was given for his decision to leave, but it was voluntary and it clearly took the Wyo. coaching staff by surprise. ACS decommitted from SJSU to Wyoming after Marcus Arroyo left SJSU to be the OC at Wyoming. A few weeks ago, Arroyo left Wyoming to be the QB coach at Cal. Maybe Arroyo just wanted to return to the Bay Area. However, does one voluntarily move from OC at a MWC school to just a QB coach at a Pac school? I doubt it and rumor has it ACS's father was very upset with Dave Christensen because he thought Christensen forced Arroyo out in order to take over OC duties himself. Anyway, I agree with those who say Wyoming's football and basketball teams are collectively the worst in memory. The Cowboys have sometimes been really bad in one sport or another in the past, but never really bad in both as has been the case during this academic year.

I applaud WYO for making winning a priority - the guy never should have been hired but cronyism got him the job and they obviously leaned on the AD to fire the bball coach or himself.

Boylin' Mad from Utah stated the exact thing last week in the small part of his coaches show I heard. I had no idea, but after Boylen threw his crapfit in 2008 after a player from Wyo dunked the ball at the buzzer when the pokes were up by double-digits, Schroyer and Boylen started talking to each other a lot and became friends.
Boilin' Mad criticized Wyo a little bit because two of Schroyer's key guys have had setbacks coming back from pretty bad, nagging, types of injuries this season (Waddell and ?) and they'd been playing much better after getting dusted by the Aztecs. Schroyer seems to be well-liked and respected and I think they could have handled it differently. They could have waited until the conference tourney IMO.

They could have waited until the conference tourney IMO. No - the extra 6 weeks mean they can start negotiating immediately with Mike Krzyzewski, Bill Self, Roy Williams, and Jim Calhoun.
