This June's draft is said to be very deep. The Padres have the following top picks:
#10 #25 #48 #54 #58 #82
Those picks are The Padres first and second round picks, compensation from losing Jon Garland, Yorvit Torrealba, and Kevin Correia, and compensation from not siging their first round pick last year.
Let's hope the Padres choose wisely.

ya should have had a "?" after Bonanza.
Jason McLeod ought to do as well if not better than the other guys we've had.

I've given up believing the padres will ever have a good draft which nets us anything more than a few 2 year starters, which are then flipped for more prospects, which are then inserted into the lineup for two years until they are flipped for more prospects. It's a vicious cycle of small market baseball.

It's a vicious cycle of small market baseball. More than 2 years. It is frustrating, but club control, including arbitration years, is what...6 or 7 years?

The Ben Davis, Matt Bush legacy of colossal draft day flops needs to end if the Pads are going to be competitive in the future. There don't seem to be any Bryce Harpers or Domonic Browns in the farm system right now.

There don't seem to be any Bryce Harpers or Domonic Browns in the farm system right now. More recent drafts have been better. While we don't really have any super stars from the drafts, we do have guys who have contributed to the major league club. While not great, it is much better than the drafts before Alderson came aboard. I am looking for a big improvement in the minors. Better drafts and an influx of foreign players signed starting 3 years ago from our new emphasis in that area. Since foreign players are signed at 16, it takes at least 3 years for their effect to be felt in the minor leagues and a few more years before any make it to the majors.
