After Latos give up an infield single to start the game and a walk and home run in the second. Latos got the final out of the 2nd and he (through 6 innings) and the Padres bullpen trio recorded 22 consecutive outs to win the game.
Eckstein, who has been slumping, got 2 hits and a walk as the leadoff hitter. Adrian continues to sizzle with 3 singles.
4-2 Padres.
This game snapped a 9 game NYM home winning streak. When the Padres came to town the Mets had the best home record in baseball, even though they lost their first two series at home. Since then they have been hot. The Mets have swept half their home series since those first 6 games.
The Padres easily have the best road record in the NL. They are in great a position to take this series when they play the Mets again tonight (Cox 4 - 4:10 PM).
Garland (R) (6-3) 2.68 Niese (L) (2-2) 4.28

The Padres are 11 games over .500 for the 4th time this year. The other 3 times they lost their next game. If they win tonight they establish a new high water mark for games above .500 at 12.
