This one is by '81Aztec. I'll put one more up in a couple of days, one that will probably finish out the basketball season. After that we may rotate. Anyone with an illustration to submit is encouraged to do so.

The current masthead is awesome! And, I love the others, too. I vote for a rotation. I lean toward rotation myself, but not every few days. I think maybe seasonal, or perhaps every couple of months. As I said in an earlier thread, our masthead is like the Coke (r) symbol, or Apple's bitten fruit logo. They are standard images that identify the brand over long periods of time. We don't exactly have a brand in the same sense, so changing our image from time to time is not really a problem. I just don't want to do it too often. (A continuing feature is the slogan.) There is always the chance that someone is going to submit a totally killer illustration, even better that the really good ones that have been put up recently. That's why we welcome new ones. WLR |

Repitition can be good. However, check out the multiple ad campaigns at Geico: the gecko (although I like Geckshow better),
the cavemen, and those stupid eyes on the wad of cash.
I love the slogan, "Aztecmesa.com...where San Diego State alumni and friends have their say..."
Keep that in every masthead and the repitition is there. Vary the athletes and it keeps it fresh.
Could you insert a photo of Christian Heyward into the masthead for the next five days?!

We're worrying about brand and comparing ourselves to coke, yet we're going to use a logo the school doesn't use or make money on - just silly. IF you want to use it as well, great, but the a spear or ds or academic badge should be on every masthead, me thinks |

One burning, one not. I'll give one a test run. However, neither is "official" in the sense that you mean. And remember, unless I can cajole my wife (who is, without doubt, the most computer expert great-grandmother in the U.S.) into making a new masthead illustration, I will have to wait until someone else creates one. Also, would the school approve of our using an official logo? I could call and ask. WLR |

I like the idea of just using Disgruntled Monty and not using any of the DS State or the PC stuff. But, again, they are all fine. |
