Rocky said or the report said rocky said that he was asked by the current coach's employer not to name hi until after signing day. Any of our Sherlocks have a guess?

What are your thoughts as to who it is Thought maybe you would know and at least give a hint; I'd guess someone he worked with at UNM but also thought maybe one of our sleuths went through media guides and pieced it together already.

I'd assume Ludwig is finding a guy he's comfortable with, then getting Rocky's blessing on who he chooses. Rocky is more tuned in with coaches on the defensive side of the ball.

Probably no one from the Titan's staff, no reason to wait if it was!

My educated guess is current New Mexico State Aggie OL coach Janson Lenzmeier. Lenzmeier was a former player at New Mexico and was a GA and OL coach for 2 years under Rocky. He even had a cup of coffee with the San Diego Chargers for a year. All dots would seem to connect. Again, just a guess... no inside info here.

That ought to narrow it down. yes. the reason why rocky is waiting til AFTER signing day is because he was told to by the Head Coach of that team the OLine coach is currently on. When a head coach is looking to hire an assistant from another staff or interview one, you always ask the head coach of that team to talk to that assistant. So the headcoach gave rocky permission to offer the spot to that oline coach but he asked rocky to wait til AFTER signing day.

Just wondering if Ludwig has any input in choosing an OL coach. Also, will Mike Schmidt and Goff be around again this year to assist the OL?

Mike Schmidt and Goff being unpaid assistants/living locally, I'd think they can be around again, assuming they got the coaches' blessings.

I guess that we will know in a couple of days. If I were to make an assumption, though, it would be that this person is a BCS level (not necessarily an AQ team) coach. Why else would they not announce him until after signing date than he has recruits pledged to his current employer until after the signing date?

I think this delayed announcement shows kind sportsmanship. Good olinemen are tough to recruit and if the oline coach is the one who recruited them, they would likely de-commit.
We wouldn't want that to happen to us either. Fortunately, Rocky had time to replace Blutto's departures which gave our recruits the warm fuzzies.
