further down in the same article Dickie V says, "Ex-Michigan coach Steve Fisher, who dramatically took over for Bill Frieder when Frieder got the ziggy from Bo Schembechler in 1989, has a championship ring with the Wolverines. Now the question is, will the San Diego State Aztecs under Fisher, be able to compete with the national powerhouses come tourney time? Get to know Kawhi Leonard, as he is a flat-out PTP'er. (Prime time performer). San Diego State's win at The Pit was a special one as Steve Alford's Lobos had won 16 in a row in Albuquerque. If the Aztecs can win a showdown against BYU in Provo next Wednesday, the team could finish the regular season unblemished. That would be an amazing accomplishment for Fisher and company."

I don't think its any question that D.J. Gay is the MVP. Is Kawhi a better player though?

i hope u r kidding...DJ Gay, a senior, is on no nba team's radar and Leonard is being touted as a lottery pick by many experts if he leaves after his sophomore year.

Kawhi Leonard is the most physically talented player on the team, but personally I think that we would be worse off if we didn't have DJ Gay compared to if we didn't have Kawhi.

I still think he needs one more year of "seasoning" before he goes pro. 3=point shooting still needs to improve. JMO

I agree Kawhi needs one more year but it's for my own purely selfish reasons

Being on someone's NBA radar doesn't make a better college player than not being on an NBA radar because of the different nature of college basketball and the NBA. I've never understood when fans try to decide who the better college player was by saying one was better in the NBA than the other. The Aztecs are lucky to have both of these high caliber players and shouldn't worry about which will be better in the NBA.

i really dont get how kawhi is a lottery pick, and dj, malcolm, and billy arnt in any mock drafts. kawhi isnt our team, he is not why we are 20-0, dont get me wrong, i love what he does on the court but i honestly find it hard to say he is our best player.

It's not always about being team MVP. His skill set is viewed by NBA scouts as being a fit for the NBA. He is an athletic freak, a tenacious rebounder and defender, and is growing as a scorer. Sean May was amazing during North Carolinas title run a few years back, and wasn't the best NBA prospect on his team. You could say that about guys like JJ Reddick, Gerry McNamara, whomever. For the record, I think Kawhi IS our team MVP. As for this quote: kawhi isnt our team, he is not why we are 20-0, It's a bit ignorant. Of course he's not THE team, he's not the SOLE reason we're 20-0. He's considered by many as a Top 10 player in the nation, and he's a big NBA prospect. That's what it is. I am not sure Billy White has enough skill offensively to be drafted, but his tenacity and rebounding could get him a look. Malcolm could get drafted or at least have a very solid Euro-career.
