I've commented in the past, other board, if the MWC adds anyone it would be with a nod or tacit approval by the BCS people.
Also, Boise has a history of good business planning. Their ascendancy from Boise JC to a major player was not luck or accident. They feature themselves as a BCS program and would not leave the WAC just because we perceive the MWC as a better conference. Boise has a plan.
Despite valid criticism for the TV deal Thompson is not stupid. This is not the time to aimlessly expand. If an expansion announcement is made, I believe, it is motivated by a possible unannounced BCS deal.

If this is the case, I wonder why the BCS didn't just make us take Fresno and Nevada as well. Then we could go to 2 divisions of 6 teams. Have a championship game. The winner goes to the BCS and there is a lot less noise about the fairness of the BCS.

I think adding Fresno or others would than be in the mix. Don't do it too fast. Do not want to give the appearance that they are marginalizing another conference.

What about Fresno St and San Jose St? FSU for who they are and SJS for who they could be with BCS money and prestige.

IF you are saying that SJSU could grow if they just had the BCS, I don't know if that is true. The Bay Area already has Stan and Cal. I am not sure how much SJSU would move the needle.

I know many of you are high on Fresno likely because they used to be a 'rival' but I, for the life of me, can't see why we want them? Nevada to me reeks of lower level team.

SJSU: There is zero chance of the Spartans being added to the MWC nor should there be any chance.
Nevada: The chances of the Wolfpack being added are slim and they should be.
Fresno:
The only scenario under which the MWC should consider further expansion beyond Boise in the near future is in the unfortunate event that both Utah schools leave (TCU isn't going anywhere). Conference championship games are a gold mine only for the true big boys as evidenced by the fact the ACC isn't earning diddly squat from theirs. Further, as long as the MWC isn't an AQ conference, that additional game could keep our champion from playing in a BCS bowl and thereby cost the conference millions. In the meantime, too many people seem to think Fresno will replace Boise in dominating that WAC. That despite the fact the Bulldogs haven't even managed to finish second since 2003. Assuming Boise is now added, the conference will have expanded just once every six years. Using that as a guidepost, let's see where Fresno is in 2016 in comparison to Houston, SMU and Nevada. And let's see whether the Big 12 is still in existence because if it isn't, the MWC may already be at 12 without any of them.

This is just another tough game and is a potential loss for the team at the top. It makes zero sense to me to add boise if it does not make us an AQ. What am i missing?

SI on BSU to MWC (interesting) "As of today, said league would include three different teams (Utah, Boise State and TCU) that have combined for five BCS bids and four BCS wins over the past six seasons. Throw in BYU -- with the largest fan base and most nationally known name of the bunch -- and you're looking at a league with which most of the major bowls will want to do business." sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/writers/stewart_mandel/06/02/mountainwest.boise/#ixzz0pkogDVsB

Exactly, to hell with them and their shitbag fans. Most classless fanbase around. Okay now that's funny. That you have no clue of the irony of criticizing others for their lack of class, in such an over the top classless manner, is simply amazing. But then irony, as they say, is lost on the stupid. My friend, we could take lessons on how to be classless from you. Not that we would want them. Yoda out...

Whatever floats your boat you little green troll but you'll NEVER see SDSU fans throwing bottles and batteries at the opposing teams fans/players/coaches like happened at the cesspool you call a school. Valley Pride!

I'd love to have BSU in the cojnference, but the thought of SDSU playing on the blue turf late in the year makes me cringe. That could be extremely ugly.

You'd be talking about a pretty buzz-worthy conference that, once the dust clears, may not have to fight so hard for respect. With all the money ESPN and FOX are throwing around these days, the Mountain West could even find itself on a network where people can see it once its current deals with Comcast and CBS College Sports expire in 2014.
Bingo.

Bingo. I don't think the contract fully expires in 14, it was expanded to 10 years when comcast came in, I seem to think it came about in 06 or 07 so I think that means 16 or 17 . Hopefully there is an opt out or we rebrand and/or are able to terminate the contract.

I think that is true and if we bring in BSU, I would welcome FSU if it is part of a plan to have two divisions. It could be a good road trip experience again. My ragging on Fresno in the past has been more to stimulate conversation than anything else. The bottle throwing was nasty, but don't think it happens now. Nice reply without falling into the mud.

If bringing in Boise does not get us to AQ with the BCS, then it is a mistake. If it does, then it is worth it. The problem is, we don't have clear line of sight to how everything is going to shake out with conference realignment. Heck, its possible we could end up with Kansas, Kansas State, Colorado and BSU and STILL not get into the BCS. The BCS does not want to let the MWC in to its pie.
