With the Mountain West Conference going downhill fast and tied into a crappy TV deal SDSU should extracate itself from the quicksand that is the MWC. The Mountain West is quickly evolving into another PCAA and it won't be long before it is passed by the MAC in football.
Go independent in football and join the WAC for other sports.

...and what do you think our schedule would look like? You think our TV deal is bad now! We don't have the deep pockets of a BYU to buy games, nor a cable channel already in 50 million homes. Not a good idea at all.

As people migrate west toward the "sunbelt" the west football programs in general should be improving and the midwest and east should be headed down. Please look at the hot up and coming teams in college football over the last 10 years...
Boise State, Fresno State, Nevada, Hawaii, Utah TCU. There arent many CUSA or MAC teams that would be conisdered hot and up an coming. Applications and # of students to schools out west are growing rapidly, while schools in the midwest are struggling.
Even with losing TCU, Utah, and BYU the future is still bright as these remaining schools grow.

Seriously!! I D-U-G that TV deal we had with ESPN back in the day. Remember how much exposure we got back east playing at 1 a.m. East Coast Time?? It was SO awesome!!
And we got to be on TV just once a year, too!! So there was no danger of over-exposure or anything like that.
ESPN was rad. They treated us like #1!
