Maybe it's just the fact that my 49ers are a steaming dog turd right now, but I find myself thinking that an NFL lockout next season might be one of the best things to ever happen to SDSU football.
Given the apparent momentum of Aztecs football, and the great talent that is returning, what kind of boost might a lockout give to SDSU attendance and exposure? I'd go so far as to say the NFL going dark be worth 10,000 per game minimum. I'd expect many of these new fans, once they see what a comparative bargain it is, would probably stay on the bandwagon even once the pros returned to the field.
So should we be rooting for strife?

So should we be rooting for strife? No. The NFL is the best pro sports league in America.

I'm hoping more for NBA labor unrest. C'mon lockout.... I want both. 1. If NBA locks out, Kahwi stays. That is my only reason. 2. There will be 50k season ticket holders for the Chargers looking to get their football fix. I would cater to them by charging them $50 a ticket, $20 for parking and giving them great football games, hot college chicks and near beer.

An NFL season lost or greatly effected may be the death knell of the Chargers in San Diego. That would not be good for the Aztecs. The best thing for the Aztecs is a new stadium for the Chargers.

The NBA can go f x x x itself.
The NFL better be around.
Maybe I'll change my mind about the NBA when Kawhi joins a team.

I don't think the correlation between being a Charger fan and being an SDSU Football fan as strong as it is made out to be by some on this board. There would be an increase in attendance if the bolts were not around but I don't think it would be significant.
I don't think the average charger fan would view Aztec football as an equal substitute. It would be a hard sell of those Charger fans who have no connect to SDSU other than living in San Diego.
I know the Aztecs had a great season last year but it would take many of those consecutively in order for them to hop on the bandwagon. Opposing teams are also draw big crowds to the Q on Sunday and a NFL fan who may only be a casual college football fan may not be impressed by anyone other than Boise St.

Regarding the NBA lockout - what is the timing. Will it occur before KL declares? If he declares and then the lockout occurs, would he be able to retract?
