Good read. Other that the fact that she has us as a Mid Major.

"For the players who have been toiling in the mid-major shadows and quietly logging 20-plus victories in each of the past five seasons, the current success is no fairy tale, although top-scorer Leonard said: "I once thought I was imagining things when I looked up in the student section as saw a poster of me, drawn all blue, flying, looking like an avatar." " Dig the human Avatar of the Hawaiian. I first saw it on this board. I e-mailed it to a buddy in Afghanistan. He put it up in his office in Kabul. Says its a real conversation piece with all the Afghanis. The Taliban fear Kawhi. Kawhi.Avatar

Almost as important as the national pub we're getting is all the pub suddenly spewing from north of the county line. I expect both football and basketball recruiting to take significant leaps in part because the LA Times and OC Reg. have suddenly decided SD is part of the Southland.

She attended the UNLV game too another article is due next week
Football this fall should benefit from the BB carryover. Hillman and Escobar are big OC links to the Aztecs

"the most awesomest"
I don't know if we should trademark that and put it on shirts and signs, or just hope that student is never interviewed again...

And that's it folks. Jim Rome watching practice? Fisher should turn down anymore media requests until after next Wednesday's game. I fear the big head syndrome (not the ones in the student section). Let's focus and BEAT BYU!

Best article I've read all season. I hate the "mid-major" talk though

I agree with Fisher's comment about what will happen when/if we lose: "Everybody loves it when you win, and I'm not any different," said Fisher, whose Aztecs have only one ranked team — No. 9 BYU on Jan. 26 in Provo, Utah, and again Feb. 26 at home — to face this regular season. "We also know that we need to keep winning because we will be the quickest to drop and the furthest to drop once we lose." I also don't like the mid-major reference. The MWC is a major conference and is only referred to as mid-major because we got screwed out of the BCS. The reality is that the MWC is actually doing better than the PAC 10 in the major sports. We should invite UCLA and USC to the MWC. I don't like the phrase that we are a Cinderella team. This is the 6th year in a row that we have won 20+ games. We were in the NIT Final 4 recently and barely lost to Tennessee last year in the NCAA. Oh well, if we win a bunch of games in the Big Dance, respect will come for both us and the MWC.

So, the handle "mid-major" has become synonymous with "non-BCS". If we don't like "mid-major" what do you propose as more appropriate?

Who cares what we're labeled ... we're 20-0 and #6 in the Nation.
Those "labels" are good enough for me.
