When Aztectalk last went down about a year ago, there were people fighting to get the right to run the board and there were some pretty good options created. People had their choice of options and the best board eventually won out. This time around, Zip just said to use William's board and that was it. Again, I don't mean to upset the Mod but this board just does NOT do it for me. Its like a ghost town and the separation of all the sub boards further spreads out the topics creating an even worse atmosphere.
I am a freakin' diehard Aztec and I'm not even really reading this board because there is no action so I'm sure there are a lot of others out there like me hoping something better comes along. I've been relegated to reading the Mountain West board to get my fix as it is very busy and there is a lot to read about.
I wish someone would set up something JUST LIKE THE PREVIOUS VERSIONS OF AZTECTALK.
Where are Bruce and some of the old timers posting nowadays? Are there any other boards I'm not aware of?

I agree. This board is not very good and makes me not even want to read it. The domain name is horrible and so is the design. We need to do whatever it takes to get AztecTalk.com back.

My thought is that the board is fine but that people have lost track of where Aztec information is. This is the "down season" generally for Aztec sports as there is little going on. Things slowed down on the old Aztec Talk during this period, except for the die hards who re-debated things like helmets, etc all summer long. Perhaps things will pick up when football season does roll around. I would, however, agree that to some extent the sub boards detract from the board. It's broken down fairly well but I would venture to say it is the split between MWC/College Athletics/Aztec Teams is where the problem rests. I would prefer rather than Aztec Team News it be anything Aztec related. I find the current analysis of the MWC expansion/death/etc. to be Aztec related in the greatest sense of the word and do not like bouncing around from topic to topic to find out what's going on. But, bottom line I'd say wait until football season before calling this board hopelessly and unredeemably boring. Having said that, finding out what other options are out there is always good. If nothing else, this thread should give Aztec fans the ability to discuss alternatives. Again, we were given no opportunity to even talk about options as the most recent version of Aztectalk went "read only" without a warning and it was either this or nothing.
Fred, I disagree that there is nothing to talk about during this summer. This has been the most exciting/scary summer in college football history and this board is a freakin' morgue.
I appreciate all you've done, William, but we should be able to make an informed decision rather than having a board become THE Aztec board by default. I ask that you allow this thread to remain and I assure you I will keep my complaints to this thread alone. Thanks.

I like this board.
I think this board is better than Zips last board and Temocs. I rate it even with Zips first board and Tonotiuh.
I also really like this board because the MOD has set some rules and stands by them. He is proactive on personal attacks, which was really missing from the last board.
I agree with poster above. This is the down time of the year.
As for Bruce and others? Many of the posters and the former MOD ran them away. They aren't posting anywhere.

Or as Monty put it yesterday, not having MWC expansion on the main board when that issue is potentially the single most important thing to happen to SDSU sports in years is nonsensical, to put it diplomatically. 2) Where is Bruce? Well, for one thing, e-mailing yours truly a couple times a week to discuss that huge issue. This is William and Erik's board so they can do what they want but I have to agree that I sure do miss the way Zip and GoLong ran Aztectalk. |

I did not say there is nothing to talk about this summer. I just observed that most summers Aztec Talk dwindled to debates over helmets/stadiums etc. between a few die hards. I offer that as a reason why there are fewer people on board, along with the idea that maybe they have gotten lost in the shuffle. I concur there are things going on this summer that I would like to read about--the expansion/death/etc of the MGC being the one I mentioned in my post comes quickly to mind. The board is not completely dead, I'm simply saying there are reasons why its not so active as people are probably lost and it's the summer doldrums. Not everyone is as interested in the MGC saga as I am. Again, having said that I concur that checking the options is always good. The Fred Noonan School of Navigation. |

I have access to everything that is needed, and all that will need to be done is to transfer the domain, gain access to zip web host, and switch it over to mine. It's even possible to keep all the old posts, handles, ect... it would be possible to add some new features as well. I've been looking for something to play with, so I wouldn't mind, just have to workout a few rules and maybe a mod or 2, and Aztectalk.com can live on. I'm on the road, so access to a computer is Sporadic for a few days, so 'll try and contact him, but but pass me his response via PM as well and I'll see what I can do. If anyone knows how to get in contact with him directly, that would be great as well. |

Keep in mind that one is always free to send suggestions in a PM to me or to B5Erik. As far as AztecMesa in concerned, I think it's fair to say that we are open to modifications.
Hey, it's only been less than two weeks since AztecTalk.com went down and people started to migrate here! I think most fans noticed that we made some changes rather quickly, changes that seemed to be well received. We will no doubt make other changes as they seem appropriate.
As to the amount of "action" on this board, that is something totally up to you Aztec fans. Had there been no AztecMesa, and AztecTalk.com just folded without comment, what would have happened? I don't know, either.
Erik and I are dedicated to making this the best possible Aztec fan board around. We may succeed in reaching that goal or we may fail. I can assure you that we will seriously consider all ideas and, in some cases, put changes up to the fans for a vote. Right now we are considering ideas for a different masthead.
Feel free to share your opinions and ideas for improvements.

John, I realize it's the so-called silly season, but I think MD is correct that this board just isn't getting off the ground for some reason. And I could be wrong but I think that reason is too many sub-boards. So if that's the case, it's more than just a small quibble.

Again, if anyone has ANY ideas to make this board better then by all means PM me with them.
Don't just start bitching about the board without even offering up suggestions beforehand. The whole, "This board sucks," thing is just lame - we've only been at it for two weeks and made a ton of changes to better suit what Aztec Fans needed.
We'll make MORE changes as it becomes clear that they are needed. Again, we are very much open to suggestions.

My less frequent participation began on the old board. I think this board is fine.
I only have so much time I can spend thinking about things Aztec. Right now the CF expansion topic dominates my attention.
Do agree about too many sub boards. I will follow "Aztectalk" in any form as long as I find the information available is valuable.

I again thank William and Erik for their hard work and for giving us the opportunity to discuss these items. I have no issue with the moderators at all but IMO this board is only getting activity by default due to Aztectalk’s closing. It was literally forced upon us as there were no other options and due to the “read mode” status of Aztectalk as it closed future board options couldn’t be discussed. This thread gives us the opportunity to have the best board available and Erik & William have a great headstart on potential suitors.
William tried to get this board going last time and it lost out to Zip….IMO the only the only reason it was still up and running 1 year later is so Aztectalkers would have a place to discuss politics because Zip wouldn’t allow it. I don’t want the best board that Will & Erik are capable of, I want the best board AVAILABLE to the Aztec Nation. It could still be this board but they will have to step it up. Just like Hoke bringing in JC offensive lineman to push the returning players, competition brings out the best in people and this board will have to get better to keep up.
Erik, my suggestion is simple: make this board EXACTLY like Zips last version of Aztectalk and moderate however you’d like. Everything about that board was fantastic.
Anyone else out there who wants to throw a board together I’d love to see what you’ve got.

There were issues with AztecTalk. The board didn't have the best layout possible - and neither does this one.
Yet.
md, just chill, OK? We're doing this for you guys, and we're getting it dialed in. This will be the best Aztec Sports related forum to date once we figure out the best way to have it laid out.
Your input will help us get it there that much sooner.
