According to Bruin fans Chow has not been let go nor has he left for Utah as rumored. Any chance SDSU is in the thick of things?

Skippy came out a couple of days ago and said that the rumor of Chow's firing is premature.

I am sure they want to save all or most of the buy out.

If we were indeed looking at Chow, I thought Utah would be our biggest competitor. But, I found out today that Jeremy Bates, the OC for the Seattle Seahawks, has been let go. I've already read rumblings about Chow to the Seahawks.
'SC fans always said that he was kind of pushed out by Pete despite their success, so who knows if he'd be interested in that. I just feel like he'd be given the most freedom to run his offense with the Aztecs than anywhere else.

Rocky asked for three weeks to entice the "big name" OC to come here.
Give him time.

It would be a great "chess match" to see Chow vs. Mattison! WTH would Mattison leave the Ravens for Micshitagin??

ESPN does not even mention Chow as a canidate. UPDATE: ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reports that the Seahawks are "making one last push" in an attempt to retain QB coach Jedd Fisch, who had agreed to become the offensive coordinator at the University of Miami.
In other words, now that the OC position is open in Seattle, the Seahawks are hoping for a return of the Jedd(i).
But there's another familiar face they'd to return as well, per Schefter: Jim Zorn, the Baltimore Ravens QB coach who played and coached in Seattle before his ill-fated tenure as HC of the Washington Redskins.
---
Michael Lombardi of the NFL Network reported Tuesday afternoon that the Seattle Seahawks have relieved offensive coordinator Jeremy Bates of his duties.
In the wake of the news, ESPN NFC West blogger Mike Sando took a look ahead at what it could mean for the Seahawks. Sando is of the opinion that this move will make more sense if head coach Pete Carroll has someone else in mind to take over Bates' position, and that someone could be Josh McDaniels, whose negotiations with the St. Louis Rams hit a snag on Tuesday. ESPN's Chris Mortensen has reported that McDaniels has emerged as a possibility.
One other possibility is Minnesota Vikings OC Darrell Bevell, who is scheduled to interview for the Seahawks' opening at quarterbacks coach (as mentioned above, Fisch left that post in order to take over as OC at the University of Miami). But if Bevell is a candidate for QBC, would his mentor, Brad Childress, also be a candidate for OC? That's just speculation on our part, as there haven't been any reports of the Seahawks being interested in Chilly. Then again, before today, they didn't have an opening at OC, either.

Here's an interview about Norm Chow between The Daily Bruin and the writer for the Salt Lake Tribune. They started to talk about Norm Chow from 10:30 minute in. It seem to me that Norm Chow going to Utah is not a 100% done deal. Rocky Long need to shower him with Micshitgan buyout money and some love. If our Athletic department is cheap then welcome back to crappy caveman football. www.dailybruin.com/index.php/multimedia/39569

Sounds like the Weasel's way of getting his point across to Chow, but not really. Regardless, after reading that, one thing is for sure, and that's Chow not being at UCLA for this upcoming season. Chow, just come to SDSU already. We'll give you the keys to the Ferrari. Or I guess we're more like a Mustang or Camaro.

I have read that Chow wants to stay on the west coast. Well, helLO! Here we are! But, then again, at Utah, he stays in the Pac 12, BCS conference $, I hear he has a house in Utah, and the LDS connection - it could go either way. Unless the NFL beckons.

I really think the longer this goes on in limbo the more likely it is that he's coming to the Mesa. I imagine Utah, his alma mater, was in his ear right away, and it seems since it was reported about a week ago that Chow to Utah was close to done, and it has lingered on, that he has other options. I wouldn't be in the least surprised that Rocky is, as he said in his presser, trying to recruit him to come here, trying to convince him of the potential of this program. Who knows, maybe the buyout is just really dicey and muddy because UCLA is handling this in a completely absurd manner, and that's the only thing holding up the Chow to Utah business, but I don't know, I really do like our chances the longer this is dragged around. This is absolutely just speculation on my part though, time will tell.

Do you think UCLA is going to make it easier for him to go to a division rival like Utah or a team they don't have to play like SDSU? I don't think him to Utah is a done deal by any stretch of the imagination.

Internet comment of the year:
Chris,
You have no real sources, stop reading message boards. Your coverage of ucla is abismal and I personally believe you lack journalistic integrity.
By the way, "contacted" is spelled without an "r."
Dude posts to let the Times' writer - who is top notch in my book - know about a typographical error and then he misspells "abysmal." Dumbass Bruin.

I don't think him to Utah is a done deal by any stretch of the imagination.[/quote] But, then again, if UCLA is on the hook for the DIFFERENCE in salary, from what he makes at his next job, and what he's making now, that hook would be decidedly smaller if he went to Utah. It could be a money thing - as usual!

But honestly, I just don't know. I really think Rocky must be working on Chow to convince him to skip on his alma mater and come the young, high powered offense of the up and coming Aztecs.
