PROVO, Utah (Jan. 17, 2011) – BYU basketball coach Dave Rose has announced that sophomore forward Chris Collinsworth is out for the season following knee surgery.
Collinsworth had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee on Friday, Jan. 14, that revealed cartilage damage that required microfracture surgery. He will be out four to five months for rehabilitation. Collinsworth is expected to be ready for the 2011-12 season.
Prior to the surgery, Collinsworth had played in nine games, averaging 5.9 points and 5.6 rebounds while shooting .410 from the field and .741 from the free throw line. He posted a career-high 15 points against Chicago State and had a near double-double with 11 points and eight boards against Fresno Pacific.

Bummer. Hate to see anyone injured, even a Zoob. Plus, I don't want to hear any whinny excuses when we stomp them.

This is a fairly signifcant loss for BYU's frontcourt as they now only really have Brandon Davies and Noah Hartsock as legitimate, big minutes bigs.
I'd expect to see more minutes from James Anderson and Logan Magnusson but they will be nothing more than foul fodder against us. Anderson has been a relative disappointment for the hype about him throughout his 3 years while Magnusson and also Stephen Rogers are pretty green and undersized.
If we can move the ball inside the zone and draw fouls on Davies and Hartsock, we should in good shape next Wednesday.

If we can move the ball inside the zone and draw fouls on Davies and Hartsock, we should in good shape next Wednesday. Expect a tight zone to combat that problem. Our bigs will have to pass the ball quick and often to keep the defense honest. Some in/out/in passing will open inside stuff. Also having a back to the basket at the foul line, like Carwell likes, helps break down zones. Making 3s will be a huge help.

[/quote] Something else I note in the stats above. 27 FT attempts when he only attempted 31 two point shots. That is an amazing ratio. If that isn't a reflection of late fouling (which I doubt) he knows how to get fouled. Also a good A/TO ratio 12/8

Who cares. Post a thread if brown yellow underwhere loses one of their paid-off referees. That's the only way those cheatin' P ovoparasites can EVER win a game.
Fumblegate, proof number one...let's remember two years, final seconds of the game at P ovo, then there's....

He's 6'9" and pretty solid but just off a mission which might be part of his physical trouble; it takes a while to get back into the game physically. What we miss with him is another big body but early in his high school days he was a point guard and so learned to be a good ball handler; that was before a growth spurt pushed him out of the PG position. As a freshman when teams would put an full court man-to-man press on us he usually broke it because not many players at the 4 could stay with him. Like many have said here, I don't care who the team is I hate to see players hurt.

Best Wishes for a full recovery!
So far his absence hasn't helped the froggies! They trailed by about 18 at the half!
