The Padres have been on a very tough road trip to Philly and the Mets, while the Dodger played at home. But over the rest of June the Schedules should favor the Padres. The Dodgers have a murders row of games scheduled while the Padres only have a couple of tough series.
The Dodgers play St Louis tonight facing Adam Wainwright (8-3) 2.05 ERA. They then have Thursday off while the Padres play the Mets and resolve the half game.
Dodgers games Angels (32-29) At Cincinnati (33-26) At Boston (35-25) At Angels (32-29) NY Yankees 36-22) At SF Giants (32-25)
The Padres meanwhile play:
Seattle (23-35) Toronto (33-26) Baltimore (16-42) At Tampa Bay (38-20) At Florida (28-31) Colorado (30-28)
Other then when the Padres are at Tampa Bay and the Dodgers are at the Angels starting June 22, the Padres should have the schedule advantage in each series. The Dodgers are playing well right now but the Padres need to pick up a few games while the sun shines. The Dodgers are just ending a stretch where they played 20 of 26 at home. They have a great home record but a losing record on the road.

The Dodgers just swept St. Louis and split 4 against the hottest team in baseball. You played against the slumping Phillies and the avg Mets. The Padres will be in third or fourth place after this stretch.

The Padres will be in third or fourth place after this stretch. The Dodgers have played 17 of 23 at home. The Dodgers are 23-10 at home. The Dodgers are 13-14 on the road. Just going by those stats they should have been 16-7 during that stretch. They were 17-6. Only one game better than their home and road splits indicate they should be. So they are not that hot. The road will cool their jets. The Padres meanwhile are playing the team with the best home record in MLB and are the hottest home team in baseball. The Padres just halted their 9 game home winning streak and have a great pitching advantage tonight to win the series. Average Mets? Not in New York.

The Padres will be in third or fourth place after this stretch. Even though the Dodgers are 0.5 games ahead of the Padres the Padres average home and road winning percentages are better than the Dodgers. That means the Dodgers being in first is only a fluke of the schedule since they have played a lot more home games than the Padres.

The Padres will be in third or fourth place after this stretch. Let's examine your statements. Braves hottest team in baseball? 1. They just lost 2 of 3 to Arizona. 2. They are 15-20 on the road. Swept St Louis? 1. They are 14-17 on the road - nice but not a great accomplishment. Slumping Phillies? 1. They are 16-12 at home. 2. They also went 5-2 at home against those Cards and Braves. Average Mets?1. 9 game home winning streak. 2. Best home record in the NL.

Tied for first. I honestly think we will be in this for the long run, the Dodgers have kind of been lucky there run differential is way worse than SD, COL, and SF's. I just keep waiting for Colorado to make a run with their talent but it really hasn't happened yet.

The schedule has already changed things. The first series of the ones I mentioned above is done. The Dodgers got swept and the Padres won 2 of 3. That places the Padres 1 game ahead of the Dodgers.
The Dodgers continue their tour of death.
3 games at the Reds while the Giants host Baltimore.
Baltimore is 6-25 on the road and the Reds are 22-15 at home.
The Giants most likely will be in second place by Wednesday.

The Padres will be in third or fourth place after this stretch. You must have said Padres when you meant Dodgers. The Dodgers are now tied for 4th place and will soon capture sole possession from the Rockies. The Rockies are the Padres real nemesis this year - not the Dodgers or Giants.
Speaking of the Dodgers, did anyone see how they lost to the Angels (again) last night? Top of the 9th 2-1 Angels. Dodgers had runners at 1st and 2nd, 2 outs. The Dodger batter singled to left, the runner from 2nd ran home without a throw, but the left fielder threw behind the runner from first as he rounded second. That runner was tagged out before he got back to second and before the run scored - game over. A walk-off bone head play. Schadenfreude.
