With over 54,000 votes Kansas has 38%, SDSU 32% (with most of the west coast voting for SDSU) and Ohio State with 30%. That is some respect nationwide.

You know what is interesting about this poll, is that you can get the results by state. Notice what parts of the country are giving us respect.... We need more people to vote on this poll. If Ohio can get 4K people to vote, we should as well.

Also give partial cause for our increased level of nat'l respect to Steve Fisher. Much has been said recently by the Vitales, Knights, Phelps, etc. in the media of Fisher's coaching abilities and how he has proven himself (again, as in post Michigan...) here at SDSU by turning the program around. This is carrying weight IMO.

Although I think this is great, my take is a little different. I think we have so many votes not because the nation respects SDSU and Fisher but because the nation believes we play in a weak conference and play so many weak conference teams that it will be easier to go undefeated then it will be for the other two undefeated teams that play a "tougher" schedule against conference foes that are "BCS" teams. In others words it's a vote for SDSU due to a lack of respect for the Mountain West Conference. Don't mean to be negative, just being realistic on how many in the nation perceive SDSU and the MWC.

This poll could be considered a shot at the conference as much as a sign of respect for SDSU (i.e. the thought that the MWC is an inferior conference and the Aztecs have an easier schedule).

I couldn't find the poll.
but i did find a poll asking which of 5 teams, Including SDSU, would win the national Championship this season. SDSU was picked by just 5% of the voters to win the NCAA tournament.

I agree with what you say. Other voters may think that the Kansas, Ohio States, and other teams of these conferences will "cannabalize" each other record-wise, therefore making it seem that those conferences are tougher, which we all know is not the case
