He's a hell of a talent, I still think that he'll give us another year. He's the best player on our squad, which is saying a lot because there's tons of talent. However, he needs to improve and be more consistent with perimeter shooting for him to be a 3 in the NBA. No way he makes it being a 4...

If he's really a lottery pick, he would probably have to go, though he would certainly benefit from one more year. Next season, he would be first team All-American from the start of the year, he would score even more and rebound even more than this season, and be the absolute go-to guy on the team. If his game improves as much as it did between his freshman and sophomore seasons, then he could be a real Danny Granger (though a little better rebounder) when he enters the NBA.

(((praying for lockout))) I agree that if he's a lottery pick he should go, but with this lockout looming doesn't that change the equation? The logic behind leaving early is that you don't want to leave millions of dollars on the table and risk a serious injury playing for nothing more than a scholarship. But if there's a lockout, you're not getting any money and you're not even playing. If there's a lockout, what's the logic in going? There may be a reason, but I haven't heard it yet. I'd appreciate someone enlightening me.

Here's another thread linked to a subscription site. Please make that fact clear in your initial post.
Thanks, WLR

In Fish we trust. I think Coach Fisher will give Kawhi the correct guidance as to what is best for Kawhi - regardless of the effect on the program.
(**fingers crossed, eyes shut tight** Please tell him to come back, please tell him to come back...)

A strong March would solidify him as a lottery pick. If that is the case, I may feel better about his departure.

I don't think he's ready for the NBA yet. But if he leaves I'll completely understand.

(**fingers crossed, eyes shut tight** Please tell him to come back, please tell him to come back...) It was really heartening to read Kawhi saying in that interview that he's "listening to coach only and shutting everyone else out.." great to hear because how many basketball talents out there go to the pros early, often way too early, because of the advice from their friends, agents, or greedy parents.. only to watch their careers fizzle out early (Marcus Slaughter and Jeremy Tyler comes to mind.) Fisher would know best.

He's going, going, gone! After the DUNK on three New Mexico BIGS and a subsequent 3 point shoot that was nothing but net, Kawhi is ready for the Associates!
Kawhi's Draft/Lottery status will hinge upon how far the Aztecs advance in the NCAA Tournament. NBA looks at a players physical gifts, length, height and upside. Physically, Kawhi's hands are bigger than Dr. J, Michael Jordan and Chris Webber.
I have had the opportunity to shake three (could not get close to Jordan) and Kawhi's are the biggest hands I have ever seen! Length, Kawhi has long arms and 7ft wing span; Height-Kawhi is 6'7 and still growing and Upside-Kawhi's upside is infinite. Last, but not least, Kawhi's ability to rebound has been compared to Rodman and Barkley who were both undersized players at their forward positions. You cannot teach rebounding!
The only reason Kawhi stays in College if the NBA has a lockout!!

Told ya so..... Duh, get in line. LOL. As far as listening to Fisher, Coach said that if you are lottery pick you should definitely go, if you are first round pick you should think about it, and definitely stay if you are not a first round pick.
