Loses at #4 Pitt 74-66. Just Ohio State, Kansas, and SDSU remain spotless

I thought 'Cuse looked mighty good. Turns out they can't overcome spotting their opponent 19 on the road...who'da thunk it!?
That zone looks nasty and would give SDSU fits I'm afraid.

There were definitely possessions where I thought Pitt did a great job dissecting the zone, but when you outrebound a team 41-27, get a 19 point head start and win by 8 at home... It isn't that SDSU couldn't beat Syracuse, they would just have to shoot really well from outside to do so and that's not the Aztecs' MO.

They were not forced into a barrage of threes. I do not know why 'Cuse did not change that defense.

Pitt is the best passing team in the nation and has great guards, that is what "exposed" the zone

That was the first time this season that Syracuse left the state of New York for a game. Like many teams, Syracuse finds it harder to win on the road.

My only point was that their zone looked really really good for large parts of that game. Pitt beat it by getting out in transition really well (something SDSU can do) and working the ball into the middle of the zone. If 'Cuse gets back and settles into their zone they are awfully awfully good. That's a credit to Boeheim.

This Syracuse thread should be somewhere else.

Nobody has mentioned this yet: Cuse's leading scorer did not play because of a concussion. On the road and without your top scorer is almost impossible to win.

Pittsburgh is a tough place to win, they seemed to match up with the 'Cuse pretty well tonight.

Now that the 'Cuse has lost will we move up in the rankings?
Their defense didn't look that good to me at the start. They were just standing around spectating. It's tough when you go on the road, no home crowd, no familiar surroundings, and no one likes what you do.
