This is another idiot thread started by someone with the luxury to conjecturalize that which only a fan can afford to do. That being said, if the team was on a 19 game losing streak I doubt the topic would be, "Do we want to lose every game this year?". As an Aztec fan, losing is one of those things you don't have to worry about. It is coming soon enough. For now and for as long as we can enjoy it, winning is good. The school needs it. The fans need it. The players are doing it. +1 And +1 again for "conjecturalize".

why would we ever want to win and.......
1) Get the best seed possible in the tourney 2) Continue to get more pub that will clearly help recruiting 3) continue to add to a school record win streak 4) continue to add to the highest ranking EVER for a team from our conference 5) Have a shot at getting our first ever #1 ranking in a major college sport 6) Force ESPN to cover us, show LONG VERSIONS of our highlights
Why would we ever want those things? Yeah, too much pressure, nothing to gain by continuing to win.......
Agreed, not a good thread....You learn from wins just as much as losses...
Lets go Aztecs! Win 'em all! Win every half! Win every possession! Impose your will, always!!! Make them remember the night they played the TITANS (er.....Aztecs!)!!!!!!!!

Aside from seeding, the longer we go undefeated, the more we're talked about around the nation, the more exposure to potential recruits. This.

There is a common misconception that "the percentages" make teams "due" for a loss. That's total voodoo. There is no such thing as due.
A team that is 34-0 is no more due for a loss than a team that is 0-34 is due for a win. Put another way: Even if you flip a coin 10 times in a row and land on heads each time, your odds of getting tails on the 11th flip do not increase. They are 50 percent, every time.
Getting back to basketball, the only variable here is if wins come so easily that a team loses focus. That might be a risk in MWC play, but not in the Big Dance. Fear not: Even if the Aztecs win out, they will be plenty amped for their 1-16 game against Bumblebee Valley State. Just a hunch.
So, uh, yeah. Undefeated would be peachy, thanks for asking. Also, in case you were wondering, I'd also like to bang Jessica Alba atop a pile of $100 bills.

I'd also like to bang Jessica Alba atop a pile of $100 bills. Been there, done that. Not as exhilarating as one might think. Kind of crunchy and uncomfortable.

I am going to reach through the computer and b*tch slap anyone who starts whining about the pressure of a Top 10 ranking and an undefeated record. Maybe we should just do a faceplant and get it over with. Well, boo-f***ing-who. What a bunch of p*ssies. This is at least the fourth thread I've read on this topic so far this season. Winners win. They don't make apologies. They don't feel bad about winning. And they certainly don't start whining about winning too much. What we need is a moratorium on these kinds of threads and move them off topic. 'Nuff said. +1

Not necessarily, but we do want a number 1 seed.

Well, the way we're holding on to 6th in the rankings, one loss and we're out of the top ten. That's how little we're respected right now. It's one thing to talk SDSU up, it's another to vote. Still ZERO first place votes. And we're one of three undefeated teams.
We know we're good, but those who don't know just look at the schedule.
Occidental?
Time and again, the only two teams that people think count are Cal and Gonzaga. And neither of them are even in top 25 this year.
It will take wins in both regular conference games against BYU and then in the MWC Championship Tournament to get any serious notice. That's the downside of playing in the MWC. Nobody even gives the other teams a second glance.

I mean, of course we do. But I'm bored, waiting for the pizza to get here and just musing about the season arc that is sdsu. We've won early, won on the road, won at home, won ugly, won butt-ugly, won pretty, won with guys hurt and at full strength. We've done our due diligence. Now I'm talking about odds and percentages. We obviously want to win the conference and want the best seed we can get. But in the name of percentages it might not be bad if we drop a game somewhere. Please don't get me wrong. I don't want us to lose or hope we lose. I want to win every game in every sport sdsu suits up for. I've just seen team go undefeated all year and lose when it hurts the most. I want our team poised for a deep NCAA run. A good seed is super important to that. Is it in our best interest to run the table or not? This part cracked me up.

A team that is 34-0 is no more due for a loss than a team that is 0-34 is due for a win. Put another way: Even if you flip a coin 10 times in a row and land on heads each time, your odds of getting tails on the 11th flip do not increase. They are 50 percent, every time. Your odds of getting heads on the next 10 flips in a row are pretty low though. Although this isn't just odds or a coin flip, I think people saying that a team is "due" for a loss is examining the human element of the game. It's just an extremely difficult thing to do.
