Yes Butler had a fantastic season last year and almost won the National Championship, but I'm tired of all the people stating "SDSU could be the Butler of this year".
I DO NOT WANT TO BE THE BUTLER OF THIS YEAR.
I want to be the Duke of this year and win the whole damn thing and not be happy to be the first loser.
Go Aztecs!

Point taken, but I don't think that statement was referring to the fact that Butler lost. At least I didn't take it that way.
Still, I don't want to be Butler either. I want to be SDSU.

I don't mind being the Butler of this year... Just as long as we're playing in the National Championship game, the ball is in our hands, and one of our guys is about to take the final shot to win it all. Don't want to see it come down to SDSU having to make a free throw.

I would be more than happy to go as far as Butler went last year

SDSU is NOT Butler. Butler was a Cinderella team that made it's way into the Final Four. I am hoping for SDSU to be a 1 or 2 seed which is much different. If they are ranked that high then they would be EXPECTED to make the Elite Eight or Final Four.
But I believe they are referring to them as Non-BCS or mid-major team.

Was Butler the #1 seed in the west?
SDSU is not Butler.
I would compare SDSU to UNLV (1987). That is who u remind me of. Or the 1982 UNLV team that got ranked #1 for the first time.

Butler was a Cinderella team that made it's way into the Final Four. The people who don't pay attention to bball called Butler a Cinderella team. However, they started the year ranked No. 11. This wasn't a team that came out of nowhere. They came out of the gate 8-4 and dropped briefly from the Top 25. They then went on to win 25 straight games to reach the National Championship. That's pretty remarkable. Cinderellas don't have 25-0 stretches. Butler was a very good team. Only BCS idiots would call them a Cinderella. We're not Butler.
