Funny how one week most people on the board say rankings are meaningless ... Not sure who "most people" are, but I'm certainly not one of them. Rankings mean a lot. Every college hoops fan in the country reads the rankings when they come out. That's great publicity for the team. Additionally, the rankings matter when the Selection Committee seeds the teams for the Tourney. A No. 6 team could easily get a No. 3 or 4 seeding. Not true for a No. 3 or 4-ranked team. Guys on the Selection Committee say they take lots of things into account, which I'm sure they do. However, they are human. And they watch the rankings week-in and week-out just like the rest of us. ... but if they keep winning and beat byu (cheaters) the ranking will be out of this world! I think this is naive. We're freaking John Belushi trying to crash a party of Blue Bloods. They will only begrudgingly give us votes. There's a strong possibility of Syracuse losing to Pitt this week and both staying ranked ahead of us, even if we beat the Zoobs on the road. We're starting to bump up against a ceiling here.

Win Wed and beat BYU in provo and all will take care of itself. Actually, it won't. I'm becoming convinced that the only way we start passing teams is when we're 25-0 and the current teams ahead of us start ringing up two and three losses. Otherwise, we'll just bounce between 4 and 6. Yea, we've hit the glass ceiling. Hopefully now that we are above a 'true' 6th team we'll move ahead of teams that lose, but who knows? And in the AP we got the douches like little sethy davis and that other retard from NC voting us 10th

Win Wed and beat BYU in provo and all will take care of itself. Exactly. People who don't follow west coast basketball can say a lot of things now, but if we take down #10 BYU on the road it will silence all critics. nuh uh uh! Make that "#9 BYU". We're hot on your heals my friend. #10 is so 'yesterday'.

Take it out on Air Force Aztecs and you will likely be in the Top 3 come next Monday!

I like being only 8 points back and closer to #5 than #7

Syracuse plays at Pitt tomorrow night. That should be interesting for the rankings. Pitt doesn't have to play at Syracuse this year.
The only ranked road games that Pitt has left this year is at Villanova and Louisville.

This is exactly what I expected would happen. I expected us to stay at #6 in both polls. If we beat BYU and AFA, then we might move up. When you are in the top with established programs, it is hard to move up.

If we do win our next 3 games, we will be top 3 in both polls. In the AP, 37 of the 65 voters have us #6 or higher and only 4 have us outside the top 7. With all the big east and big 12 teams playing each other, we will rise higher.

It's not like those two teams are a walk in the park.

I'm having a hard time seeing why we should be upset ranked number 6. That's pretty damn good for a team that only has one victory over any current top 25 teams (St. Mary's).

It's awesome to be ranked this high however all that matters now is how we do in The Dance. As long as we stay in the top 20 and make a deep run in the tournament, I'd prefer that to us being ranked in the top 4 all season and no good run in the tourney.
This is not the BCS and east coast bias can't hold us down in March!

Ohio State: No top 25 wins Kansas: UofA (25, coaches) Syracuse: 5 loss Michigan state (17/18), 4 loss Notre dame (16/16) Pitt: Texas (10/11), Lost to Unranked Tenn, Uconn (8/8) Duke: 5 loss michiganState (17/18), lost to unranked FSU in first road game that wasn't a home game sdsu: St Mary's (21/22) Not like everyone else is setting the world on fire
