I agree with SGF, this is good news for us. Why do some of you think this is bad news for SDSU and that we are goin to lose AQ for the MWC?

Because once these Super Conferences are formed 3 to 5 years from now, they will split from the BCS, ending it. The BCS will become the MWC, WAC, C-USA and the Sunbelt.
The Super-4 Conferences will have playoffs among each of their 4 divisions to decide the 2 teams playing in their Conference Championship Games. After Conference Championships, 2 Bowl Games will be played to determine the Final 2 teams to play for the Super-4 Championship. (That's essentially the National Championship) The 8 playoff games, 4 championship games, 2 semi-final championship games and the Championship game will create 100's of millions for the Super-4 Conferences. They will probably create 2 Bowls for the runners-up in each Conference, just to add 2 more Bowl games to the mix. They'll control the major 5 bowls, and dictate terms.
The MWC and others will be playing in the Las Vegas, Pointsettia, Liberty, GMAC or Hawaii Bowl making $500k to $750k per bowl. There will be no AQ status. There will be no breaking into their bowl scheme. 100% of revenues generated will go to the Super-4. The leftover scraps will be served to the remaining 40 or so D-1 teams.

"Super 4" means SEC, Pac-10, Big Ten and....the MWC. After the Big Ten raids the Big 12 and the Big East, the Pac 10 raids the Big 12, and the SEC raids the ACC there is no way either the ACC or the Big East will be as strong as the MWC if it includes BYU, Utah, TCU, Kansas, Kansas State, Colorado (Assuming Baylor goes to the Pac 10), Boise State, SDSU, UNLV, etc. The MWC will be the 4th super conference.

Do you honestly believe that after all the dust settles the Big East or the ACC which would have been pillaged by the Big Ten and the SEC will be stronger than the MWC with Kansas, Kansas State, Colorado, and Boise State?

I don't think Colorado is coming to the MWC. Word is the Pac unsurprisingly has told Texas (which is really the only entity they're negotiating with) that under no circumstances do they want Baylor. (Terrible football, small, conservative private school, etc.) And even some Baylor fans on their board say the school doesn't have the clout in the legislature it did in 1993 when Texas bailed on the SWC. Something to keep in mind is the Kansas' chancellor has already called her counterpart at Nebraska to urge the Corn not to leave the Big 12. That's an indication that KU might try to take the lead in this. That can be either good or bad for SDSU depending on your viewpoint. Bad geographically because of the distance to SD from Lawrence but good in the sense KU is a basketball school and our BB program is so much on the upswing that playing the Aztecs twice per year would help, not hurt, KU's RPI. (Thank God for Steve Fisher.)

I heard a rumor today about the big 10 offering an ACC school soon. I've heard Maryland mentioned a couple times. Never really gave it much thought, but there would be some logig into gaining TV sets in the mid-atlantic.

It wasn't Maryland that I heard, but at this point, anything is possible.

Here's another scenario..MWC Faithful think about this....the conferences are making their moves. Colorado leaves big 12, to go to pac 10... nebraska goes to big 10...Mwc adds boise st. and lets wyoming & air force go...big 12 lets iowa st and missouri go. The mountain west should merge with big 12 and have a Super Conference with two divisions west, southwest or north and south, whatever you want to call them.
West
bsu byu colo st n mex sdsu tcu unlv utah
Southwest
ut ou tx tec tx am osu baylor kan k st
If we let teams like tex, ou,tex am, tx tec, osu etc. go to the pac 10, were setting ourselves up for the same thing we currently have. If we dont do this, other conferences are going to realign and the mwc could get left out in the wind... Mwc commissioner should make a move! This could be great for SDSU! This will be a great football, basketbal & baseball conference...Yahooo! Get it out there!
