I feel bad for Strasburg. No one should have this much pressure on a first start in the bigs.

I fall in this camp. As excited as I am for him, unless he shatters the bats of 27 straight Pittsburgh Pirates, the crowd is pretty much going to go home disappointed. He's not Superman... yet.

At least his start against Pittsburgh with one of the major's lowest BA around .228.

Yeah, but with numbers like that, if he ends up getting shelled tonight (you never know -- every great pitcher gets lit up every once in a while)... I'd just hate to see a massive crowd turn on him first go-around. That could be shattering. Such unique circumstances. I think the coaching staff will be looking with a very close eye to protect him from expectations tonight. Just a solid 6-7 innings with a couple of earned runs should be all anybody realistically expects.
