What about the rest of us in San Diego that CAN'T get this stupid channel? Will the MTN ever be available to the rest of us who don't have cox? Sorry for the hostility, a little miffed since I can't easily watch our Aztecs.

Just listening to Craig Thompson on "the drive" and he stated that if you have Time warner and don't like that the MTN is not on there, write a letter complaining and give you $100 bucks to direct tv to be able to get it. That might be an option.

That might be an option. The reason people don't switch to DirecTV is because of Cox Ch. 4. You can't get Ch. 4 on DirecTV, and thus, you cannot get Padres games. Otherwise, I'm sure you'd see more people make that switch.

That comes to an end soon, so I have to imagine that TW will finally play ball with the MTN and NFL network. How do you figure? First, Time Warner obviously doesn't give a piss. They never have, and there's no reason to believe that they'll change their tune any time soon. It's just a bad company......worse than Comcast. Second--and this is an honest question, since you're apparently more knowledgeable about the situation than I am, and since I've been trying to figure this whole thing out for two years now--what's going to change? I know about the court ruling against Cox and how they're supposedly no longer allowed to bogart their signal. But to my knowledge, there was never any settlement as to how or when Cox was supposed to make their signal available to the likes of AT&T and Dish and DirecTV. They were still holding out, claiming that since it's a land signal issue, and not a satellite signal, they're exempt. Also, what does it mean as far as the Padres broadcasts go? Does it mean that they'll have to make it available to AT&T and DirecTV and Dish for free? Or does it just mean that they'll have to make them available for the MLB Extra Innings package? In which case, the only way people IN SAN DIEGO will be able to get Padres games on DirecTV (or ATT or Dish) would be to purchase the Extra Innings package. And I don't know that there'll be many people willing to do that when they can get the channel for free on cable.

I know, I know... I can get the MTN on DirectTV. That is not the point or the problem.
The deal is, thousands of recruits and casual fans can get the Big10, Pac10 and SEC on TimeWarner with no fee and no effort.
I have TimeWarner and get these channels and so does the 6'9" high school kid down the street who can't afford DirecTV or his family won't make the effort. With the other competing conferences they don't need to make the effort.
Recruiting as tough as it is, this conference should pay TimeWarner to program this network.

So why does ComCast pay 13 million for the MTN rights and make so Little effort to distribute.
Also, when the conference negotiated with ComCast, I think twice now, why weren't there some distribution goals or mandates/

I have DIRECT TV but most important if we want to get top RECUITS- do they get it and do they get it in HI DEF- the standard for up to date networks- If we want to compete with the big boys then - then our league needs to force the issue or we will continue to lose , schools, recruits and status. Sir Craig needs to get with it in 2011- thats what he gets paid to do
