Don't forget the miracle three pointer at the half by New Mexico last year. Friggin fluke. If that dosen't go, we win. Then we beat them twice. They lost 2 key players and we return all. It will be a tough game, but Aztecs WILL prevail....

Actually the renovation is done and the capacity actually dropped from 18,108 to 17,200 approx. And you are right that if you win they will still keep you out of the Top 5. BCS bull$#!+! And yes the PIT will be sold out and loud as hell. If we shoot well we have a shot but MAN you all are athletic and strong. Hope they game lives up to the hype and the Lobos squeak one out. Hope we both pound BYU!!! Welcome to The Mesa Swane, any foe of BYU is a friend of ours ;D Yes welcome swane. I had a great time meeting lots of great new mexico fans during last years conference tourney in vegas. The ones I ran into were very classy and nice people. They wished us well and like azson said, any enemy of byu is a friend of us Didn't realize that the capacity actually went down. Do you or anyone else know the reason for that? I'm not too worried bout the polls, only really concerned with how well we do in March and hopefully April. Here's to a good, hard, injury free, and clean played game tomorrow!

If we win tomorrow, we will be top 5 on Monday. No way we are Top 5 Monday I think that we will stay at 6. Duke will not drop to 6 with that lost, 5th is the lowest I can see them going. People on the national stage don't think we are for real yet. We will just keep proving them wrong. My thoughts exactly. I doubt we will jump a head of the mighty Duke.

Aren't they all huge from here on out? Actually, I would argue that a win at Wyoming is much bigger than a win at New Mexico. in the "Bad Losses" column, a loss at the Pit wouldn't show up. But a loss at Wyoming? They're all huge.

Here's to a good, hard, injury free, and clean played game tomorrow! The capaciy decreased because the old mezzanine seats were removed and replaced by luxury suites(something has to pay for it). That dropped the capacity but not the noise level. Should be a really tough test as it was last year when we went to Viejas. I thought we could escape with a win last year but no such luck. Conference roadies are tough like WYO was for you last year and us this year. Heres to a great game on Saturday!!

This is going to be one hell of a game.
New Mexico is tough tough tough and The Pit is no cakewalk of a place to play.
I expect a close one going down to the wire.
If we pull this one out, it will be something else.
Go Aztecs!!!

Feeling good about your chances of making the NCAAs this year Swane? I haven't seen your boys play yet... Not really. We are like you were last year. No big ooc victories and some unexpected losses. Lost to Dayton in 2OT and lost to N. Iowa in Vegas when they went off shooting 3's. Played a bad half @ Cal and lost big(were down 2 at the half). We are better than alot of teams that will get in from the power conferences but you know the bias. At this point it is early but am afraid like you guys were last year we might have to win the tourney in Vegas to get in.

CBS sports analyst says a playing at the Pit is on par to playing anywhere in the Big 10, ACC, Big East, etc... unfortunately most of the nation doesn't realize that. Actually, it's not on par with most venues in the Big 10, ACC, Big East, etc. It's a more difficult place to play than all except maybe Cameron. The L.A. Times had a great article about 8 years ago in which some guy did a complex statistical analysis of the most difficult college basketball arenas. He adjusted for records, the fact that it was a road game, etc., etc. Cameron ranked No. 1. I believe KU's Allen Field House ranked No. 2. The Pit came in at No. 3. Pauley came in at No. 4. And Wyo. came in at No. 5.

I don't understand why some of you are scared. New Mexico got railed by Cal, lost to Dayton and Wyoming, and narrowly escaped Colorado State at the Pit. It's going to be a tough game, but not much tougher than UNLV. Am I missing something?

We were the 5-seed in 2002, big underdogs against BYU, WYO and UNLV and we stormed the court (you can't do that anymore unfort , but they do let you on the court eventually) in front of the home Reb fans, so sweet. If all works out, you'll shock BYU in the semis and meet us in the final (after we beat UNLV) You going this year? If so, come by Azdick's car in the parking lot and have a famous Azdick margarita with us
