A win at The Pit would be Monster. I am really worried about this one. If SDSU wins we could be in the Top 5 Monday.
At UNM. BYU and UNLV are the toughest games left if we can win 2 out of those 3 we would be great shape.

Duke will not drop to 6 with that lost, 5th is the lowest I can see them going. People on the national stage don't think we are for real yet. We will just keep proving them wrong.

Did NM finish their renovation of the pit yet? It's supposed to seat around 16k now right? That place was already loud, now with added seats it's gonna be a real tough place to win at. We better be ready.

F/C Drew Gordon is finally in the starting lineup and had 15pts 16rbs and 2blks in their win over CSU and their freshman C Kirk is blocking shots on D and hitting 3's on O. But Gary is the toughest matchup for us and gets us in foul trouble every time we play them with his penetration. (DGary and KWilliams both avg 5 assists per game for NM)
DJ is not going to be able to guard these guys and play all 40 ... and I'm not sure Rahon is quick enough to stay in front of them either. This will be a good test for us and similar to teams that we will see in the tourney with quick penetrating guards who can take games over by themselves.
I would love to see Fisher throw a zone at them for parts of the game to see how successfully we execute it against penetration.

Does Fisher and the crew even have a zone? Can't recall ever seeing them run a zone?

Does Fisher and the crew even have a zone? Can't recall ever seeing them run a zone? A moment in Aztecs history: Feb 28, 2009 at TCU the Aztecs went into OT with Tim Shelton, Ryan Amoroso, and Medhi Cheriet fouled out. Wade, Spain, Williams, Thomas, and Gay played a zone and the Aztecs beat a very tough and much taller TCU team. All 10 points the Aztecs scored in OT came from the foul line. The game had 11 ties including 5 in OT.

I don't think they would expect it at all .. and it could stall their offense for a few minutes. And although DJ did play 45 mins and got 25pts .. he allowed a ton of penetration (Gary 14 FT's) and White and Leonard both fouled out of the game. Foul trouble and FT's will be a huge issue again for both teams.

I bet even if we win we are #7 come Monday. If we win tomorrow, we will be top 5 on Monday. Duke wont slip out of the top 5. All of the top 5 teams won tough games against good opponents. Nova beat a very good Lville team and were only a vote away from overtaking us in the AP poll. They play a decent Maryland teaam on Sat. If they win that and no one else in the top 5 slips up, I bet we are #7 on Monday. Voters like a win over Lville and Maryland more than they like UNLV and UNM. Simple as that.

We better be ready. Actually the renovation is done and the capacity actually dropped from 18,108 to 17,200 approx. And you are right that if you win they will still keep you out of the Top 5. BCS bull$#!+! And yes the PIT will be sold out and loud as hell. If we shoot well we have a shot but MAN you all are athletic and strong. Hope they game lives up to the hype and the Lobos squeak one out. Hope we both pound BYU!!!

Even though we are a better team than last year, and they might be a little worse than last year, I think we actually lose this game.
WE just came off a pretty emotional game against UNLV, where many of our most important players logged heavy minutes.
The Pit will be as loud as its ever been (see http://www.thelobolair.com), and they are a little better than their record may indicate (Drew Gordon is playing well).
The only way I think we can win is if we feed off their crowds energy and take it as a challenge.
I wont be that upset if they lose, team has played up to my expectations so far...In the beginning of the year i predicted we would have 3 losses... @byu @unm OR @unlv and one other fluke loss.
Id be content with a 3 loss season and a top 3 seed in the tourney

We can lose this game because the game's venue plays a huge role on the calls. That's a given.Expect the Aztecs to get three or four calls against them based purely on playing there at 'The Pit'.The Aztecs are a better team, but they cannot afford to allow New Mexico to stay in the game and allow those calls to make the difference.
