AztecMesa: Status report, January, 2011.
I would like to take this opportunity to reflect a moment on the current state of AztecMesa and what lies ahead. First, it’s gratifying to realize just how many Aztec fans have joined our ranks and are participating in the various sections of this site. Last May 28th there were only 41 members. Now we have surpassed 1000, with hits totaling between 2,000 and 3,000 per day! That’s impressive.
Erik and I do our best to respond to all comments and suggestions, but no doubt have missed a few here and there. (Erik is, like most of you, gainfully employed with a long commute. I am retired, but there are some days when I can’t even log in. Yesterday, for instance, was spent going to and fro from one medical facility to the next. All turned out pretty well, but it was grueling. That ran from 9:00 AM until 8:30 PM!)
In any event, we rely on the interest and cooperation of all members. In general you all have been exemplary. Those members who are fairly new are encouraged to read the Forum Rules and Settings thread found near the top of the first section of the site. And, of course, there are important items in the announcement section.
There is one issue that I will stress at this point. On a number of occasions I have moved threads from one board to another that was more appropriate. This is especially the case when the thread deals with a sports topic not strictly and specifically related to SDSU issues and questions; the second section under sports is for items about other MWC schools and other schools and conferences around the country. If we did not try to adhere to these guidelines we would find the SDSU sports section simply overwhelmed. As long as there are categories, we should try to post accordingly. I realize that some readers will not agree with my decisions in this regard, but somebody has to make the call.
As for the future, we still have not dealt with one issue that has been on the minds of many; that is the AztecMesa masthead. You will be seeing a new one fairly soon. In fact, we may try out several to determine which gets the most support.
I may have forgotten to comment on some important issues, so feel free to remind me which those are. We thank you for your spirited participation and hope you will continue to be active in the future.
