I'll throw this one out there . . . Josh McDaniels. Prior to the Broncos meltdown, the Patriots put up huge numbers from 2006-2008. He's from Ohio and went to Michigan State. No SoCal connection that I know of, but he's young and has a lot of fire. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Josh_McDanielsHell, yeah! McDaniels might be a terrible head coach but that guy's a GREAT offensive coordinator. (Plus then ignorant members of the media can confuse him with L. McDaniel. )

I also heard that Rocky had approached Chow. At least two other posters who I've not communicated with about it said they heard the same thing. It's been no secret that Chow was likely to leave UCLA. Heck, an L.A. Times columnist said that in December. I therefore also think Rocky was hopeful of getting Norm and maybe unlike Michigan's AD thought it would be uncouth to talk to one guy while he was pursuing a second guy. The Trib said this morning that Rocky had NOT contacted Chow. Who do we believe? Is Utah making a hard run at him?

McDaniels appears close to being the OC for the St Louis Rams.

The Trib said this morning that Rocky had NOT contacted Chow. Who do we believe? Is Utah making a hard run at him? My heart sank when I read that Rocky had NOT talked to Chow regarding the OC position. And yes, Utah is pursuing him HARD. Many of the Utah media is making it out to seem that it's all but a done deal at this point in time. Had Chow not been a former player and alum at Utah, with strong ties to that state, and that Utah would be in the Pac-12, then I'd think we'd have a good chance of landing him if it were just between SDSU and Utah.

One thing in our favor, UCLA doesn't want Chow to go to their new division member. They might cut a better deal with us than for Utah. Probably still depends on how pissed he is with Skippy. That could be our deal breaker.

Somebody needs to spill the effing beans already. I'm not going to feel good about this hire until we find out who the OC is...

So Utah apparently wants Chow. I believe that would make Dave Schramm available and have heard he would like to leave Utah. He coached at SDSU for years in the 90's. Would he be a viable candidate for our OC?

However, Barney Fife was waiting on Harbaugh. If Rocky hasn't been waiting on Chow or somebody else, then I would be inclined to start having the concerns that ZachAttack has.

Secondly, if Hoke left, it was a slam dunk that Wellman was going to go with him. We should already have Rocky's chosen strength/conditioning coach chosen, hired and putting the finishing touches on the off season program. Perhaps we are farther along in these decisions than Rocky is letting on publicly. However, to an avid fan, who has no experience in college football, our seeming lack of prior planning for a very real possibility is a concern for me. For those that understand how a football program works, are my concerns valid or unrealistic? I don't disagree that it appeared to be a slam dunk that Wellman would go to Michigan. However, I've heard that Wellman wasn't completely pleased with his relationship with Brady and that Rocky was therefore hopeful of trying to put something together which would have kept Wellman at SDSU. Anyway, I'm not concerned today. However, we're now just over two weeks from LOI signing day. It's wonderful that several key recruits have said they're staying with SDSU regardless. However, knowing how down and dirty these things can get, you can bet our competitors aren't going to take no for an answer as Feb. 2 approaches if we still don't have coordinators in place. (I don't think the other openings are any particular big deal.) I agree. You know that the competitors resolve is hardly been used up.

I have heard zero rumors about the following so this is mere speculation but I wonder whether this guy could be Rocky's S&C coach: www.wsucougars.com/genrel/072508aab.htmlNote that he was at WSU when Sterk was the AD and he was Oregon State's S&C coach when Rocky was an assistant there. He quit WSU to go to Montana after Bobby Hauck left for UNLV.
