Bob Toledo? Borges was the OC under him at UCLA and I believe Toledo had a one year stint as OC under Long at New Mexico. The next year he took the head coach job at Tulane.

Good guess but he's still the head coach at Tulane right? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_ToledoI'm guessing that it's Hugh Heffner as new OC.

I can tell you this SDSU already knows who will be the OC and Coach Borges knows him very well. And it's not Chow. Can we get a few more hints here? Is it a name people will be excited about?

He is the head coach at Tulane, I would find it hard to believe he would bolt that money to come here and be OC I don't necessarily disagree, but . . . www.nola.com/tulane/images/TULANEGX.pdfDude's reportedly earning just $450K. Tulane is a private university and therefore doesn't have to publish contract terms of its coaches but one would assume he has just one more year on his contract. Since everybody was surprised he was allowed to return in 2011, he could easily be just 10+ months from the unemployment line. Assuming Toledo sees it like that, if Tulane owes him only another $450K, I could see him bailing to be Rocky's OC if Rocky would guarantee him three years like Neuheisel originally did with Chow. Oh and I'm not saying I necessarily want Toledo. I really haven't thought about it enough to have an opinion. That said, he certainly isn't somebody like Dave Baldwin who I'd be aghast at having and Toledo was once very highly regarded for his offensive knowledge. Plus at UCLA he was known to be a great recruiter. (Yeah he hasn't recruited well at Tulane. BFD. Nobody can recruit well to Tulane, which as the article indicates, really doesn't care much about football.)

Didn't Rocky hire him at UNM? He didn't do anything spectacular during his time there. He was there just in 2006 before leaving to take the HC job at Tulane. 2006 began with what UNM posters on the MWC call their worst defeat ever, a loss in the opener to Portland State. That was abysmal of course but UNM recovered to win six games, including an upset of Utah when the Lobos scored more points against the Utes than anybody except Boise State. Checking my Phil Steele's, UNM had to replace DonTrell Moore, their all-time leading rusher, and did so with Rodney Ferguson, who gained 1234 yards and averaged 4.9 ypc. Toledo also promoted Donovan Porterie to starter that year as a redshirt freshman. Although they averaged just 16.7 ppg over the first half of the season against four OOC opponents and AFA and Wyoming, they averaged 28.7 the rest of the way against Utah, SDSU, BYU, TCU, UNLV and CSU. I'm not trying to make a case for Toledo, just trying to be objective.

Toledo has just one more year on his contract: www.abc26.com/news/local/wgno-bob-toledo-staying-at-tulane-120110,0,3774807.story The fact he had to talk them into letting him return and that he did so as early as December 1 suggests to me that on top of what the poster said above, he's definitely a candidate if not the candidate. Thinking about it, I would be fine with this hire. For one thing, the man knows a ton of HS and JC coaches in California. That's always a good thing.

Didn't even think about Toledo, but that seems like the credited response here -al and rocky coached under him, he coached under rocky. Toledo was once pretty respected and in the late 90s he was the man around LA - went to a couple Pasadena QB clubs and he was king then. Wouldn't be upset if he came here

The OC and DC are key to growing the program - and Rocky needs to call his contacts also use the football alums- to help him also. NOW- Coach K on the radio last night suggested Chow or the OC coach from UTAH- what other position coaches do they need ?
