Is Boise State coming to the MWC?

I really don't see it NOT happening. I'm not saying its a good idea, but it all but locks in the MWC to a BCS spot (if the BCS survives the conference expansions).

I see it as the MGC preparing for the loss of one of its members in the near future, or in the alternative adding a western team to form the base of conference expansion in the event the Big 12 loses teams to the PAC 10 and Big 10. This is a "positioning" decision pure and simple. Either way Boise is an important building block. If we lose a team, we'll need them. If teams such as Kansas, Kansas St., and Nebraska become available to help us become a BCS conference they add to the base. I don't think the move really adds anything in terms of becoming an AQ under the BCS "new" rules. Those rules are designed to keep the MWC out absent realignment. As long as the MWC has teams like UNM, SDSU and UNLV performing as they have the BCS will find a way to keep our hands out of the pot. The Fred Noonan School of Navigation.

If it happens, and I think it will, more moves will follow. I can't see a ten team league unless it is divided into two divisions. I think at least two more will follow BSU into the MWC.

Actually, in today's paper is says if BSU is invited and they accept prior to July 1st, they do get included in the analysis that is used for the four year period. This included the past 2 years (14-0 last year / 6th in BCS and in both polls and 12-1 the previous year and another top 25 ranking) and the next 2 years, first of which would be in the WAC and the 4th year in the MWC. Considering they will win double-digit games again, yes, adding BSU WILL help us get an auto-BCS spot, especially if the Big 12 not longer exists.

If the MGC takes Boise and remains static then the problem for the AQ remains: SDSU, UNM, UNLV. Boise only adds to the won/loss record at the top of the conference and as I noted will not have an impact on whether the bottom of the conference continues to keep the MGC out of the BCS. If the Big 12 goes away, well as I said Boise is the necessary building block and adding those left out Big 12 teams to the MGC would presumably get us into the BCS. So, my main point is that absent the loss of a top team from the conference or the collapse of the Big 12 Boise won't particularly change the equation as far as an AQ status. Of course, it does appear that the status quo will not remain, so my other point is that the MGC is just positioning itself to be in the best spot when the other shoes start to drop. Let us just hope this doesn't get so greedy that instead of some Big 12 teams finding themselves out in the cold SDSU with its poor record is not the one left out in the cold. As for what I'd like to see out of all this it would be BCS for football and a dynamite basketball conference. This thing could go either way for us so here's keeping the fingers crossed that the old Aztec curse doesn't rear its ugly head once again. The Fred Noonan School of Navigation.

I voted 3 in 5 because I think it may well happen, but I'm not all that enamored with it because Boise brings little to the table other than football. Bringing them in just adds more travel time for our non-revenue sports with little reward.
And yeah, I do recognize the importance of football to a school's athletic budget, but just as an example, it weakens the conference even more in baseball and doesn't do a thing for B-Ball.

it doesn't do a thing for B-Ball. =Bob Sure it does. It gives us two wins. That means we can start a streak of 22-plus win seasons... lowers the conference RPI. Raises the paycheck of the overall program with the added bowl money.
