Well, David Brooks writing in the New York Times, actually, but still . . . Brooks is a good guy, a Goldilocks kind of guy, not too liberal, not too conservative! At the Times he's a conservative. With Tea Party types he's a RINO. Here he lists a number of problems that I suspect just about anyone would admit have to be addressed. I would add one problem, in my opinion the most serious concern. That concern is the likelihood that medical care will probably get worse for most Americans. (The rich will be able to pay any price, even if it means bribing some officials to bump their loved ones up a few places on the waiting list for critical organ transplants. That would really give us a two-tier system!) Here's another problem that Brooks did not include. Innovation is likely to slow down due to ObamaCare. That would include new drugs. www.nytimes.com/2011/01/07/opinion/07brooks.html?_r=1AzWm

Interesting series of thoughts about the problems with ObamaCare. I just have to think that with the efforts to defund ObamaCare and eventually repeal it we have to really get serious about the cost, quality, and availability of health care.

Besides the cost of Obama care the biggest problem is now you've got 20MM more people demanding to see a MD and there aren't any more Doctors.

The only solution to any present problems is to go to fully socialized medicine. Remember, "I've got mine, so fug you." will not be the prevailing mantra of the upper class in the future.

Even if you were right (which you are not) we still have to get a handle on cost and availability. House will not provide funds for Obama Care. cnsnews.com/news/article/paul-ryan-we-do-plan-defunding-obamacare-0

Single payer is the only viable solution.

Single payer is the only viable solution. That is obviously not true. Single payer will lead to worse rationing than we have even now (look at EVERY socialized medical system), and the quality of care for everyone but the very rich will decline. There's a saying about government controlled health care. The system works fine just so long as one does not get too sick. AzWm

Last time I looked it is a socialized, single-payer system.

Last time I looked it is a socialized, single-payer system. Expand that to include not only the 20 t0 25 million undocumented folks that Obama wants to cover but also all of the relatively young and now healthy who choose to go without care. That is a huge unsustainable increase in cost and with a sure result of even more severe rationing.
