ESPN rated the "non-big 6" conferences for recruiting for 2010. And because 2 top rated guards decided to follow their dads (coaches) to non majors is the only reason New Mexico does not top this list, however NM is listed at #3 and is close to a national ranking with the big boys.
Alford has signed a 10 year extension and clearly plans to keep NM at the top of the conference as long as he is there. His recruiting juice extends beyond the southwest, as well, as he has landed recruits from Texas, Illinois, Ohio, North Carolina and even Australia.
Other future opponents Santa Clara and Long Beach St make the list as well. USD gets an honorable mention.
