As predicted the amount of Arctic ice moved above the 2008 level again. 2009 moved below 2008 on July 7th to much fanfare. as I pointed out at the time, it was really irrelavant since 2008 was above 2005, 2006, and 2007 levels at that date. The 2008 ice levels didn't move below 2005 and 2006 until early August. That is when I said we should see where 2009 sits. Last Thursday 2009 moved above the 2008 levls. 2009 is above the 2003-2008 aveage by 30K square KM. It is currently above 2005, 2007, and 2008 levels. Arctic Ice recovery is continuing. 2007 was a low point. 2008 was above that and 2009 should be above 2008.
The current Arctic ice level is 1 Million Square KM above the 2007 Arctic Ice level on this date.

1 Million Sqare Kilometers of sea ice is a lot more ice.
