All this ranking stuff is such crap. How in the hell do you go up the ladder when you don't play and barely win 3 out of the last four games. Sorry, but I don't see us as a top 10 team...............yet.

I am now more disappointed than ever about those two Arizona games being canceled.
Would like to have seen the Aztecs in one of those major tournaments against a "traditional" power.

Sorry, but I don't see us as a top 10 team...............yet. You do realize that "barely winning" is still winning, right? There are no style points in basketball. We are as good as anybody in the country, save Duke. There are games when we don't shoot well, but there are games when every team does not shoot well. And if we shoot the three well, we are unbeatable.

O for 18 and barely beating a couple of cupcakes is not the consistency for a top ten team. I believe they will get to the NCAA's with no problem. But to rely on these so calleed rankings at this point is crap. Take it a game at a time and don't read the press clippings. After they win the MWC, then I will check the rankings. It's just too early.

In all honesty, I think that SDSU is - talentwise - closer to say #12 in the country so I think there is a bit too much hostility towards our friend tuff here. That being said, SDSU has earned the ranking they have but only due to where they started.
Look at Cincinnati, who is also undefeated (and a Big East school with a basketball history) and they are not even ranked. Sure they have played a 'cupcake schedule' and since they were not even on the radar of the top 25 voters, they are only in the 'also receiving votes' stage.
SDSU started at #25 (and deservedly so) and have just continued to win - against good teams and on the road - while other teams ahead of them have lost games. It is very tough to win games - especially not at home - which is why getting those 2 wins in Vegas were huge...but, can you really say they played like "the #7 team in the country' in those games? No way, both USF and IUPUI are solid teams that will likely finish in the upper half of their conferences, but teams that we really should have beaten by at least double-digits.

Top 10 teams regularly have crappy games against inferior opponents, just like we did. Top 10 teams find ways to win in these type of games. We have not had a healthy team for 2 weeks. I was amazed how well we did against UCSB. I think our guys were feeding off the audience.

That's what's great about MBB - there is a tournament that ultimately decides the champion. Not opinion and not snapshots of the season. Now beat Accidental!

In all honesty, I think that SDSU is - talentwise - closer to say #12 in the country ... Disagree. I think what everyone is confused about is that we don't have a couple of MickeyD AAs or a couple of sure-fire lottery picks on our roster like, say, Duke or UConn or Ohio St. But don't think for a minute we're not as good or that we don't belong. And here's why: * KL is a defacto Mickey D AA. The only reason he wasn't on the list was because he didn't play hoops his freshman year of h.s. and was off the radar until after guys had already been slotted. * KL may or may not be a lottery pick. But he's certainly a first-rounder, and that's saying a lot. There isn't a team on the country he couldn't start for. * Thomas and White are also blue-chip talents. They each could start on any team in the Pac-10, for example. They'll both be playing for paychecks soon. They'll both likely get a sniff at the NBA. Whether they stick or not will be interesting to watch. * Combined that trio is as good as any in the country. And that includes Duke, Kansas, G'town, Syracuse, etc., etc. * DJ is a senior PG. He's very solid. He's certainly no John Wall or Kemba Walker. But he knows how to run this team, can score when he needs to, doesn't make mistakes and can defend virtually any other guard in the country. * Tapley and Rahon are both outstanding 2Gs. Again, Tapley could likely start for just about any team in the country. And Rahon could be a 3-pt. guy for just about any team in the country. * Fisher isn't an OK coach. He's a great coach. It's about time he's been given his due. The job he's done at SDSU has been miraculous. And now that we're near the summit, he's not going to be shy or confused about what to do to get us to the top. * When you put it all together, the pieces fit. There simply aren't any holes. Great frontline. Outstanding backcourt. Seasoned squad. Unselfish play. A guy who could be national coach of the year. Etc. Etc. Etc. Just because we're San Diego State, don't feel like you have to apologize or feel guilty about a single-digit ranking. I certainly don't.

Can't people just ENJOY the fact we're doing so well? Geez, always something to complain about with some folks. Unbelievable.
