Drove by my old stomping grounds today and the football field has been torn up. They are putting in the new field turf and rubber track. Orange Glen has a good QB this year. He is the leading passer in North County returning. I have let the coaching staff know about him and they told me they were already aware of him. Was told OG also has another player they know about. I think he plays Hback and linebacker.

Orange Glen really had a good program in the late Sixties. It has been so long ago that I can not remember the names. They had a QB back then that went all the way to the Pros. Was it Moyer? I know that about ten years later they had Sean Salisbury. Those were great years for OGHS.

Got their asses totally kicked by my Pointers this weekend. =Bob Your on crack again hippie! This is great, you continue to show that you have no clue what you are talking about on any subject. OG was up at halftime and out gained the Pointers in total yards for the game. Your just lucky OG had a bad 3rd quarter.

From what I hear and what I have seen so far, OG and San Pasqual will both turn some heads this year.

Went to the Orange Glen game this past Friday night. OG looked very good and I know it was against a weak team. They have some decent size this year. They have some very good talent. Miles Godfrey the qb is very good. He has a heck of a arm. He will need to put on some weight for college ball. Locher the RB, HB, TE, LB is very good with good size. I really hope SDSU takes a good look at him. Was told Oregon has been looking at him at and even Harvard, so he must be a smart guy. He has the size and looked like he could be playing college ball this year. They also have two very good sophomores in Early and Bonahoom. Also a very good linemen in Cortez with good size. Was told he will be one of the best wrestlers in the county for his size as well. Against Point Loma last week, I was told he played very well against the Pointers all everything DL.

Orange Glen and San Pasqual and Valley Center are all daughter schools of Escondido High. There has been a strong football tradition at all of the schools and that probably relates to all the Okies who migrated to Escondido in the 1930's. They brought some good genes with them and their sons and grandsons have all played football for the local high schools.

There has been a strong football tradition at all of the schools and that probably relates to all the Okies who migrated to Escondido in the 1930's. They brought some good genes with them and their sons and grandsons have all played football for the local high schools. Very true. You know, John, some of the verybest people I have ever known in my lifetime were from those families that headed west between 1929 and 1945, looking for work in California. While in high school, I (night) managed Palomar Park at 1565 South Escondido Blvd which was in Orange Glen's district, but I continued to take the Escondido High bus for those four years. It, just like the Orange Glen bus stopped on the corner of 15th and Escondido Blvd. just a block away from where I lived in the office of the park. 63 spaces in that park and most were filled with retired people who had seen WWI, the Great Depression and WWII. They would come and pay their rent to me every night and stop and tell me stories of their lives. I have often given thought to the stories they told me. These were hardy people, proud people who were not afraid of manual labor, even though they were intelligent enough to all be managers. They all seemed happy to have lived their lives. I used to play an old radio in the office that Ikept on a station that played songs from the thirties and forties. The moment the old people walked into the office they could tell you what the song was, who sang it, what fellow was on the horn and who was playing the piano. They loved that music and it was great music. Really great music. Since my parents were out of my life for those four years of high school, those people, many of the Okies, became my family. My awareness of how great those people were came when I started fifth grade at Lincoln Elementary in northern Escondido and I had a cowboy teacher by the name of Mr. Kendall. Damn good man. He'd take the belt out of his pants and whip any boy who dared step out of line. You did not disobey those men with sun wrinkled and dark burnt faces. Hell, all you had to do was look into their faces and you immediately knew that those men knew more about the world than we'd ever learn. He used to have us sing old cowboy songs in class. Because of his encouragement I have sung professionally. Probably never would have done that if it were not for his example. I wish I had recorded all of the conversations I had with those people. It would have made a great book. A really great book.

I say give VC the division IV title right now.
