Should be good. We only lose Perez and will get Horn and Hemmings back.

Mcfadden is going to be a star
Stevens will be a big time safety.
Don't forget Whittaker

Concur, JJ Whittaker should make an impact. Hoke's recruiting class a year ago addressed speed and that class should be ready to contribute in 2011.
The defense should be loaded with new faces on the line, linebackers and secondary. Rocky's rotation at these positions will help all the youngsters get much needed experience.

It's pretty common to have guys take 2 years before coming back fully from a devastating knee injury (wasn't JJ's a ACL/MCL combo?). So, I'm not sure he'll be ready that soon. I am hoping that Jackson, on the DL, is ready to come back full speed from his knee injury. We may get Pinkins back too, if Hoke is satisfied that he is going to stay out of trouble.

What about Mahbu Keels - I thought he got hurt early on - am I remembering that right?

might be the strength of the defense.
On a side note, I really liked Burris as a stand up linebacker on the weak side against Air Force - the game plan and their offense dictated it, but if the secondary is as good as I think it might be, more of that 3-4 hybrid look with Burris at the line as a pass rusher, run stopper and some zone blitz might be devastating with straight up man, burris rushing and then the other backers/seondary blitzing.

The staff loves our youth/talent in the secondary.
I look for big things from them next season.

I'm not worried about the secondary ... Josh Wade and Larry Parker both had some nice games this season and showed me they are capable. Between Horn, Whitaker, King, Keels, we should be able to replace Perez, and who knows maybe Wade and Parker get pushed out of the rotation ... At the Warrior position, I'm big on Nat Berhe, Brandon Davis had a great bowl game and I'm excited about his speed. between, Andrews, Lemon, and Hemmings we should be able to replace Hemmings. .... Andrew Preston will be the hardest to replace, but I'm excited about Siluano, I believe he's been described as "made to play that position."

They said during the game it was a sprain but it definitely looked like it was a tear. He won't play next year if that's the case.

That was a different Andrews. One is a safety (Marcus Andrews #26) the other is a middle Linebacker ( #44)

Without a doubt the main reason why Rocky Long was able to turn Ernie Lawson n Miles Burris loose this year was the play of the secondary and the ability to play man coverage. McFadden n Perez combination was one of the best if not the best in the conference, Berhe, Stevens, Andrews, Lemmons, Davis all return! Add in the fact that a JJ Whitaker, Wade, Horn, Parker, Pinkins, Siluano all come back with experience and depth.... You may be talking about a very dangerous group with McFadden having the chance to be one of the top Corners in the Country, Berhe and Stevens being some of the best Saf in the conference!!

That's an odd statement, unless you know the severity of the tear/tears. true, and that's why I'm talking. but I wouldn't use odd as a word to describe this, I don't know how that word describes any of this. and a torn acl takes 6-8 months to come back, all depending on your method of surgery and rehab. so ya, if rob would have torn his acl, he would have time to make it back for the season.

Not sure why you take issue with my word choice, but whatever. It's not uncommon with complicated knee injuries to have them take longer to be back at full strength. Even if they can run full speed at 6-8 months it may take longer to get that burst back. I think Perry Jackson has had that issue (though you probably have more insight on that one).
