Leandrew Childs (long time ago) Can you say blast from the past? Remember the crackback block Childs put on the Wyoming safety when we kept them from winning the WAC East championship in 1996? Dude must have out-weighed Childs by 30 lbs. yet Leandrew completely laid the wood to that guy. Man was that sweet. Wyo was ranked something like 23rd at the time. It was a fun win.

That was a great win at the Q! That was the first ranked team that we had beaten in a while.

Who is the last JUCO player to make an impact for the Aztecs? There haven't been too many over the past decade. The 2 OL from the Craft era. Pino and Schmidt

I'm still pretty worried/disappointed that the linemen didn't get here in the spring. It's a tall order learning a new offense AND hitting a D1 weight room all in a handful of weeks.
Hope I'm wrong, but I don't see the linemen making a big impact early in the season. Maybe towards the middle or so. And, if they do start the opener, that would be a sure sign that the guys we already had were really really bad.

It was actually better than that. If memory serves, Wyoming was #16/#9 at the time. Blanton running in the winning TD was an Aztec moment I love.

Pino and Schmidt I agree Schmidt was the standout lineman during his 2 years. The kind of player Hoke would have probably liked. Pino had concussion issues so it was hard to grade him. I hope this is the last time that Hoke has to go after so many JC olinemen. My guess is he did what he had to do. Ideally no more than two should be needed annually and used as line pluggers for injured starters, at that.
