Boy, I sure feel fancy on this colorful, new board! So anyways, afters the football recruiting season ended, there was a lot of hand wringing over whether the JC transfers were really coming. Those of you in the know said we'll know by the end of May who's coming. Welp, here we are at the end of May. Any of you in the know have knowledge of who is, indeed, going to be enrolling?

According to the last word from Hoke, they should all be there!

Last I heard yes.
But remember, JC players are always a slight risk.

I thought someone had posted that two of the lineman were there or would be soon and the other would be in a couple weeks.

I believe Perry is there, but rehabbing from his injury.

With JC kids the only real answer to this question is when they are first at practice and then in fact attending class. Otherwise there are so many things that can happen that it counts as one of life's annual mysteries. The Fred Noonan School of Navigation. ps--just curious how this works. This board has been here for how long? I mean I just got started, have 8 posts and guys like Steve are in the 200's. Steve--Have you posted 200 times in two days?

This board has been up and running for well over a year. When I left Aztectalk the first time, I came to this board and the MWC board. Most of my 200 posts were over the last year when I wasn't on Aztectalk.

I believe Perry is there, but rehabbing from his injury. Perry was at State last semester and for spring ball. He didn't do any live hitting or anything like that at spring ball, mainly stuff by himself and with trainers.

We haven't gpt too much out of our JC transfers in recent years, I expected more. Maybe Hoke is a better judge of talent and this years transfers will make a big difference.

That is correct, I saw him over on the other field working with strength coach Wellman, pushing a sled. I do not believe he took part in any scrimmages.

I think we are all aware that it would have been nice to have most of the JC kids in for Spring Ball, but getting them all in in the fall vice some falling by the wayside will be a big plus.

Indeed, Hoke has a better eye for talent and potential. Early SDSU offers on previously unrated players eventually turn into a mob of offers, turning these same kids into 4 star studs. Oldie Out

Who is the last JUCO player to make an impact for the Aztecs? There haven't been too many over the past decade.

The previous issues with JCs under Craft and long wasn't poor talent evaluation...They simply never got here!

I believe Perry is there, but rehabbing from his injury. That is correct. Saw him in pads observing a pass protection drill. If he plays as good as he looks in pads then we have something here. Definitely looks to be physically cut from a different cloth than many of our DL.

Who is the last JUCO player to make an impact for the Aztecs? There haven't been too many over the past decade. Great Question. George Jones was probably the best. Hawley looked ok until he got hurt. Taylor Schmidt was good. Leandrew Childs (long time ago) Scotty Nichlson. Much longer list of jcs who were below average, or worse, never made it in. It will be really interesting to see how Hoke does with jucos. A lot of people don't like us taking jucos in the first place, but all the other schools in the mwc use jucos, even the best ones like Utah.

Leandrew Childs (long time ago) Can you say blast from the past? Remember the crackback block Childs put on the Wyoming safety when we kept them from winning the WAC East championship in 1996? Dude must have out-weighed Childs by 30 lbs. yet Leandrew completely laid the wood to that guy. Man was that sweet.
