We have been winning with AGon and Headley in huge slumps. We have been winning with our best hitting outfielder on the DL. We have been winning with LeBlanc and Corriea not pitching at their prior high levels. We have been winning with a key bull pen guy on the DL. The Padres have had plenty of excuses to lose some games but they continue to win. All of the DL players are due back real soon and the hitters seem to coming out of their slumps. We seem to have weathered the storm and the sun is coming out. Let's hope they play as well in sunshine.

Another cloud on an otherwise sunny day. I am hoping he can come back after the All-star break. If he comes back healthy, that would be a huge boon for the Padres. He is a very good pitcher. The only Padres pitcher to actually win a playoff game this century. Without Young, I wonder who our playoff starters will be. Latos won't be available unless they change his role soon. Maybe Stauffer and Latos can change positions. This would allow Latos to finish the season. Otherwise the Padres could skip his start where possible, to extend him further into the season.

Latos is a stud, our OF absolutley sucks a** at hitting and A Gon is having a year not up to his standards and is sooo bad at Petco he needs to pick it up. Scotty should be back on Tuesday we need his bat bad Is Jermaine Dye still unsigned? sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/5610Given our financial limitations, would he be someone worth looking at for our OF?

What a cool game to watch last night. I don't think I've ever seen the Padres score that many runs in a game I actually got to see since I started watching them as a kid in 69'.
Mind you I was overseas a lot in the military for 21 years and didn't get to see them like I do now, but still. ;D

No thanks. With his defense he would have to hit a lot better to just break even. We might as well play Stairs in Left Field.

Both he and Stairs would cost runs. Part of our success is great defense we don't need someone to come in and give up runs. If we allow a sub par defender on the field, he better hit better than what is expected from Jermaine Dye.

Dye is just too much of an unknown regarding his stats for the last half of last year.
Post All-Star game:
.179/.293/.297 with a whopping .590 OPS pct.
Yikes.

May has been good to the Padres. June not so much. I will say that if they stay healthy they will not collapse. Pitching and defense has been too good to fall much.

Anyways we are 1-1 now, we beat the Mets best 3 starters with our 3 worst starters 2 out of 3. The crazy thing about this team is we have done it with injuries to key members of the team CY Scott Hairston Tim Stauffer Everth Cabrera
