Don't forget to add in the additional revenue from the #15 jerseys that will be for sale in the near future (allegedly black, Nike ... but you know how truth and rumor can vary, so take it FWIW.)

Are student tickets free? yes Yes and no. Tickets are free but the students pay a hefty athletic fee so like the saying goes, there is no free lunch.

The real money comes from the NCAA. I'd sure like to know how much Butler got for being the runner up last year.

Hot dog and jersey revenue do not go to Athletics.
A rising tide however lifts all boats, Prez Webber, Associated Students & Aztec Shops are all probably in the top 10 of giving to Aztec Athletics.

Of course if we get that far, it would be disappointing not to go all the way instead.

Of course if we get that far, it would be disappointing not to go all the way instead. I don't know how the Horizon Conference does it, but the MWC shares all the "unit" money equally among conference members, no matter how far a particular team makes it through the tournament. So, BYU and SDSU can make the tournament this year. BYU can lose in the first round, and SDSU can win it all, and they both will get the same amount of "unit" money in the end. The difference is in the stipend money that the MWC gives to the schools who make it further into the tournament. Schools that make it to the 1st and 2nd rounds will get $100K combined from the MWC. Schools that make it to the 3rd and 4th rounds get a $150K stipend combined from the MWC. Schools that make it to the Final Four get $250K more. This money is supposed to be used to offset the costs to participate in the tournament, so the better the school is at spending the stipend money (being frugal), the more money it will make once it's all said and done. That, and winning it all. ;D
