Who pays for the Hotel? I was surprised that a local team would stay at a Hotel downtown when the stadium is 1 mile from SDSU.

This is a bowl game, whether it's in our city or not. They deserve to experience everything that goes with it! I, for one, will be in the Westin Gaslamp with the Marching Aztecs on Tues nite! (They only get the one night.)

Financially for the school, things couldn't have worked out any better for our 1st bowl game in over a decade. We save on travel costs, and being in SD helped to sell all of the ticket allotment.

I don't think so. I believe the bowl people covers room and board and travel cost.

I just posted a few additional photos.
I'll check out the financial arrangements, but unless things have changed drastically in the last five years when I was involved in this stuff, the teams have a guaranteed payout against a seat allotment and all of the costs except specific bowl activities are borne by the school.

Nope, those are requirements for schools to pay to accept the invitation to football bowl games. Ticket allotments, travel, meals, and even hotel obligations are the responsibility of the participating schools. Why do you think a lot of schools lose money accepting bowl bids? If it wasn't for conference revenue sharing, there's now way any school could afford to go bowling year after year. In essence, the league's themselves are paying for the travel expenses, leftover ticket sales, etc, because of the revenue sharing at the end of the bowl season. In the NCAA basketball tournament, the NCAA pays travel expenses.
