Really the only game I thought was close to a sellout was St. Marys.
Are they really selling all the tickets, and that many people aren't showing? Why then, when we play BYU, I guarantee that will be a sellout, and every seat will be taken. Seems strange that like 10%-15% of the people buying tickets don't show up.

It could be that some season ticket holders have conflicts on game nights. I know I do. I missed the Cal Poly game due to my son's game.

I would guess that all the tickets are being sold.

Tons of empty seats this year, even though a number have been called sell outs.

Last night was pretty close to a completely full house. Only the sporadic empty seat here and there. The reason there are empty seats is that season ticket holders aren't showing up for games (for whatever reason). The seats are sold, and the tickets have been issued, therefore it's considered a sellout.

Tons of empty seats this year, even though a number have been called sell outs. I wouldn't say "tons." Maybe a couple hundred at worst, particularly at the Wichita St. game. and USD game. All four sellouts have been pretty full houses.

All four sellouts have been pretty full houses. I also think fans look up at the crowd at game time and think all seats may have not been sold. We still have very late arriving crowds. UCSB I saw many empty seats at tip off and looked up about 5 mintues into the game and they were mostly all filled.

Covered already.....we all know that just because all the tickets are sold doesn't mean 100% will attend.

I feel like I've seen this thread a lot now and I get annoyed every time.
Its very rare that any arena that is completely sold out will look that way at any one glance.
Here are some of the reasons and maybe we can put this to rest.
1.)People have lives, jobs, conflicts, sicknesses, priorities, problems that prevent them from attending even if they have a ticket. Its not like seats are 100 bucks like charger games. You aren't eating that much doh by not going.
2.) Scalpers have tickets they don't sell.
3.) People don't sit in their assigned seats. Either they sit with friends in other places, like GA, or, as has been the case for almost every game, students buy GA seats or they buy guest seats with the student purchase and then they stand in the student section, which doesn't necessarily need a person for every seat.
4.) People arrive late, it gets more full as the game goes on.
5.) People are at concession stands, or in the bathroom, or leading cheers on the concrete without an approved permit from the AD (just kidding)
I don't get why people care so much. Is it harder to enjoy the game if there are 100 empty seats? I don't understand the commotion about this issue every week.

After all it is very important to the program itself. I agree with all of your points though, how many show up is irrelevant. The tix are sold, the money is in the bank.

Every time I get up to go to the restroom or whatever I see dozens of people wandering around the concourses or in line for concessions. You're not gonna have butts in every seat unless it's a tight game against a big opponent. What does it matter anyway? The money is in the bank. Only Aztec fans could find something to complain about in four sellouts.

I know I personally still sit in the student section with my GA tickets. I'm sure others do as well.

I love these sell outs because of the obvious reasons, but also because cheap ass people have been used to buying GA tix and then sit down in the nice reserved seats...NO MORE....Love it.

You know, I don't see why this is such a big deal. In the books, those games are sellouts. Period. The crowd has been plenty loud each game. Yes, places like The Pit rarely have an empty seat pretty much ever, but Lobos basketball is pretty much the only gig in town.
(And that's not to put down my parents' current 'hood!)

My guess is that a lot of SDSU alum buy season tickets simply to support SDSU. It's easy for them to pony up the $$$ but a lot harder to trek to the arena. Capiche?

There seemed to be a lot more people there last night than the previous sellouts. I think its because it wasn't on t.v. so less ticket holders decided to stay home.

When all the tickets are sold it's a sell out. They can't force the people to show up.
