Anybody have a clue about the exchange between Coach Fisher and Leonard about mid-way through the second half. We sit in row 8 behind the bench and Coach was yelling at Kawhi about as lound as he could, so loud in fact that we could hear bits and pieces of what he was saying. Which given the noise in that place is saying something. Suffice it to say it was a major league ass chewing.

Leonard also stayed in the game longer than any of the other starters...

I didn't see this incident, however I did notice that at some point in this game Kawhi's defense was remarkably more intense. During one sequence Kawhi was defending his man at the top of the key. His man had the ball and Kawhi was bending his knees in a more athletic position, moving side to side more quickly to deny his man the opportunity to drive around him, while simultaneously using his hands like a hockey goalie to deny easy entry passes.
I think that Kawhi's "shot" this year has been a big improvement. His defense has looked adequate, but not at any where near the "effort rate" that Billy White consistently provides. Last night I saw more effort from Kawhi, perhaps it coincides with Fish's "butt chewing". Comments?

I saw the same thing I don't think it was as much he did anything wrong but more the fact that they needed more out of him I saw a few times that after a rebound KL didn't give a it his all to make it down to the other end. Fish was getting in that ass to let him know at this level you need to can't take time off.
Right after the "butt chewing" KL did go in for a few more mins

I saw it and I think it was about Kawhi getting into a shoving match with a UCSB player. I think Coach was telling him that we can't afford for him to get into shoving matches and get thrown out. Keep your cool. That is how I read it.

I was also sitting behind the bench and witnessed the whole sequence.
It was right after Kawhi picked up a foul and one of the coaches (I didn't pay attention to which one, but it wasn't Fisher) was going back and forth about it with him and finally Kawhi waived him off as if to dismiss what he was saying and turned his back on him. As soon as he did this Fisher yelled at Tapley and said "get in there, hurry up" and Chase rushed over to sub in for Kawhi. When he got back to the bench that's when Fish ripped in to him, but he went back into the game about a minute later so it didn't seem like it was that big a deal.
That's just what I observed. Kawhi was obviously frustrated about picking up that foul.

That would do it. Having watched Coach Fisher for a dozen years, his exchange was probably the most forceful I've seen. If a Bobby Knight rant is a 10, this was at least a 9. We were thinking Kawhi had delivered a cheap shot, but ignoring the coaces would probably explain everything. The one line out of Coach Fisher's mouth we could hear clearly was "I don't care who you think you are....". So blowing off the coaches would fit.

Not sure what happened or if we are making a big deal over nothing. I just hope Kawhi s keeping his head on straight with all the positive publicity he and the team are getting. The last thing we need is Kawhi to get in the dog house with Fisher. Knowing Fisher, he said what needed to be said and they have moved on.
