Dare I say...
A better time to be an Aztec sports fan than the 60's and 70's?
I think so, especially if basketball and football can put up great numbers again next year.
We Are On A Roll!!!

Wow. Did any sane aztec fan think they would live to see the day when the aztecs would have a team ranked so high in a major sport?

Wow. Did any sane aztec fan think they would live to see the day when the aztecs would have a team ranked so high in a major sport? Frankly I didn't dshaw. I thought #12 to #25 in basketball/football would be the highest. Steve Fisher is very serious about what he does. Remember, his goal before he leaves....A National Championship.

My son-in_law is a Kansas grad. When ever I talked about Aztec basketball before, he would have a knowing smile. These days are a little different.

I've always believed the football program would be one of the top programs in the country but never thought basketball would make it. Viejas is the main reason and, of course, Fish, and the community support. But if you ever saw Peterson Gym you would never believe where we are today.

Somewhere George Zigienfuss is looking down at what this team is doing with a smile on his face.

Could someone please clarify how we can be #4 in Sag ratings but #134 sos in the Real Time RPI ratings. Isn't sos something that the Sagarin rating weigh heavily? Another thread points out that our sos rank was by far the worst of the top 43 teams. Are these ratings measuring totally different things? Thanks

Remember, his goal before he leaves....A National Championship. I hear ya. I'm no spring chicken myself. This is fun. I never expected it. I just hope we can keep it up through the conference games and that no one gets sick or injured. The mere uttering of the words, "National Championship," raises the hair on the back of my balding head and shivers down my arthritic spine!

The sos rating is a Federal Government statistic designed to convolute the rating system so that nobody can understand it..... similar to the CPI index.
