They have a chance to keep it going if they hire the OC and he can hold onto a good chunk of the staff and not have a mass exodus of players.
But that could easily not happen and they could go back into the dumpster with SDSU.

If they hire Marion they are toast. They were super lucky that Odom brought several great players with him from Arkansas and MO. The MWC defensive player of the year this year is one. He also got lucky that Ricky White 1.) came to UNLV prior to Odom and 2.) stayed at UNLV after his QB from Hs left.
This is a one-hit wonder deal and they need lightening to strike a second time in a row to hope they can remotely hope to somewhat sustain what they've had the past two years. Prospective HC's are going to be reticent given the deficits the athletic department has been running which force them to stay in the MWC for the quick cash infusion instead of the Pac.

UNLV has a the second best NIL in the MW. That and a good Coach are why they have succeeded the last two seasons. If they bring in a good Coach, they will be fine. State can be competitive with a lower NIL as long as they find a better Coach with a strong leadership personality. Stars will move on. However, a great Team and winning atmosphere will keep a kid around if the NIL is close. |

He would be making 10x the money at WVU than he is now. That's a no brainer. He makes $400k now. And the current WVU coach is making $4mil. Even if they offer Odom a lower amount, it is still considerably more than what he is making now. |

I don't want to say anything that isn't 100% accurate, but I know a player whose NIL agent negotiated a 3 year NIL deal that can be voided after year 2. The 3 year NIL deal was set up so the player can leave for a bigger school and better NIL offer after two years. I might be slightly off in some of my details, but that is how it was explained to me. The players are responsible for their own taxes on the NIL money, and that is a big concern around colleges and players. Also, I was not told how much the NIL Agents are making, but the bigger ones are surely making good coin. |

as with players the G5 conferences are the training grounds for players and coaches - if they do well they will be gone in a short amount of time
also remember some posting early this year before football started - the worry that Lewis might do so good that he would be hired away - think there are any offers now for him to leave ?
