There needs to be a petition to get a new Football coaching staff, they are again getting beat (badly) in all aspects of the game

Couldn’t agree more. So many other things to worry about with Aztec athletics. We should have a mascot and it should be kid friendly. Having a guy run around with his shirt off in the aisles and concourses isn’t inviting for most to take pics with and interact. Watch a Michigan state game and they have a cartoon spartan warrior “sparty” run around and interact with fans. He does halftime and between time out stunts and games. Not hard to reimagine that as an Aztec warrior. Just an opinion, but I think having a mascot similar to Sparty is more disrespectful than the live Warrior, which "disrespect" is one of the major reasons the Warrior is gone. But I hold more concern about the program more than I care about the Warrior coming back. Would rather have Wicker focusing his attention on that than the Warrior. That's why you have an awesome aztec dragon as a mascot

With all due respect, kids flock to Monty, especially Carlos. Carlos is a 50 year old man with a wife and kid. The mascot should be a college student thing not a real estate agent trying to get new clients with his marketing arm Never said, or even believed that Carlos=Monty forever. My point was that thousands of kids flocked to Monty and that Carlos had been Monty for much of that time. But, kids(of all ages) loved most of the Monty's. Even the Whiter Shade of Pale Monty!

I’m not disparaging what Carlos did. My point is kids love stuffed colorful animals, no one is offended by a mythological animal, mythology is huge part of Aztec culture. U can have a fire breathing dragon that blows fire when the Aztecs run on the field and when the Aztecs score a touchdown. You can incorporate other Aztec mythological creatures as well. You can make Aztec toys. It’s new, it’s fresh and no one is complaining If people on their own dime want to privately fund a warrior that’s not tied to the school than so be it

The prices and the late starts keep almost all of them away (sad!) Next thing, The Aztec Warrior has always been very respectful and a great ambassador to the Aztec history Carlos has been a great ambassador (RocK On Dude!)

You know there's like a hundred sporting events for the Aztecs, right. Having a costume mascot, you can have many students fill the role so it can attend hoops, soccer, baseball. Day games might happen more in the new pac conference. Kids attend late basketball games so that's not a valid excuse. Deals for bringing kids can happen as well. At one point they had 2 warriors. You can have a dozen kids fill the role with a costume.

You were the one that referenced football games more then once and I went with it here and stated that the Aztec Warrior (in general) has been a great ambassador to the Aztec history and not signifying only Carlos. I then stated Carlos has done a great job. I would have no problem with others doing the same job, only hope that they are able to live up to the standard Carlos has set as a GREAT Ambassador of the Aztecs and of this fine University. I only hope the Aztec name and traditions continue on for many more years, would hate to become something like the San Diego State Sandpipers or Sandcastles.

You blamed late starts and prices on kids not attending football game. I responded with kids attend late basketball games. Prices and a new conference can also help solve both. You can adjust prices for kids. Also winning and developing an atmosphere help both. Having a mascot that is not an actual Aztec human doesn't change the name. Tons of schools have a mascot that is not the actual name. . collegefootballnetwork.com/list-of-college-football-mascots/My last argument is that an Aztec mythological dragon is cool

The 'dragon', Quetzalcoatl was a Feathered Serpent, and now you're treading on Aztec religion. To me, I'd think that would be seen as more offensive than Monty/ the Warrior. The atmosphere when Monty came out of the smoke with a flaming spear and planted it at mid-field was epic. The school tried a stuffed Cat and, I'd say the Warrior was more popular with most kids, especially if they are over the age of 5. Having multiple students appear as a mascot means more money for multiple scholarships.
