The stars seem to align against and not for the teams in the PAC 12. The new Pac-12 is just the MWC, plus two teams that no major conference wanted, and a very small Jesuit school in the middle of nowhere with a good basketball program.

The new Pac-12 is just the MWC, plus two teams that no major conference wanted, and a very small Jesuit school in the middle of nowhere with a good basketball program. It’s the top Brands and TV rating getters of the Mw plus the PAC2. It’s still a much better spot to be than in the MW. There is only one thing that is worse than losing and that’s winning and no one caring. That’s UNM, SJSU, WYO, Hawaii, and Nevada. It may not be the Big 12, but all you can do is better your situation and that is what this conference will do for these teams. JMO.

sports.yahoo.com/big-12-football-on-tnt-new-deal-will-feature-13-football-games-on-wbd-channels-after-settlement-135956401.html13 football games, so one a week on TNT and TBS. 15 basketball games, so less than one a week on TNT and TBS Deal Runs for six seasons, some are saying that this is good for the PAC as it shows the interest to enter college sports is real for WB/Max, I disagree. Every deal fills a need even if a window. It also signals that ESPN has more content than it needs and will just allow games to be sold off much like the ACC games that were sold off. It is interesting that ESPN chooses now to let content off of their platforms when the MW and PAC are going to market. In any event, goods hitting the market the same time you are bringing your goods to market is generally not a positive for pricing. JMO. I should note, WBD/Max already has basketball content with the BE as well.

ESPN has content at a cost of x per game and the market rate is higher than x… so they are cashing in… ESPN has been showing FCS games during the late slot… West coast content is still needed…
