I'm not sure if Phil Longo would be a good fit here.
One thing is for sure, Sean Lewis needs somebody to run an offense for him at this level.
Phil Longo does run a single-back offense, which he refers to as an air raid offense, which may fit with Lewis's preference.
Phil Longo has a thirty-four-year coaching career behind him, basically as an offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach. Eight of those years at the power conference level, including two years at Ole Miss, four years at North Carolina (one the covid year), and two at Wisconsin.
He had fairly successful offenses at Ole Miss and North Carolina, but was not a good fit at three yards and a cloud of dust in the Big Ten. And the fans there grew up on Barry Alvarez's ground-pound game.
If Lewis is interested in his Aztec Fast, then Longo could be a good fit, as he does run a no-huddle offense. However, he relies on sharp players who can communicate with each other to run their no-huddle offense, as he only signals the play in once.
Although he grew up and played D-III in New Jersey, he may have recruiting connections in the Mid-West and the South.
Can we afford him? At 56 is he still competitive?
Can Lewis afford to go this Winter without hiring an Offensive Coordinator?

Can we just trade Lewis for him and hire a new head coach?

I saw Longo at UNC and he was so reliant on a QB that could scramble, and how he couldn't scheme a line to be able to hold a pocket after 2 seconds. I was shocked a school like wisky went that route.
He is not a good option to me, and we can't afford him

Don’t see the relevance to SDSU

Don’t see the relevance to SDSU Exactly! Just because a program realizes it's time to fire/let go a coach, doesn't make it Aztec related. Far from it!

Don’t see the relevance to SDSU Exactly! Just because a program realizes it's time to fire/let go a coach, doesn't make it Aztec related. Far from it! Wisky hired an OC to modernize their offense, just like State. Wisky fired the OC, we shall see who they bring in, but I suspect it will be an embrace of their roots. This is a parallel to state's effort to modernize their offense. I would say our results are worse than the wisky experiment.

Just look at CU and Deion's adjustment after Lewis was let go. They are almost better in every category across the board.
