I went to a game in Moscow, Idaho in the Kibbiedome and we lost. Wonder if there was another year we played Idaho in Kibbiedome?

Cant compare both situation. Hoke came to a program where he had to change the losing mentality, no resources, and had not gone to a bowl game in 13 years. The league was also much stronger back then. Think along the lines of New Mexico. Lewis was given money, new stadium and complete control of his staff.

Hoke inherited a bad team from a bad coach and made major improvements on both sides of the ball. Lewis inherited a mediocre team from a mediocre coach and has made no improvements. Year | Coach | Points For: | Points/G: | Points Against: | Opp Pts/G: | SOS | 2008 | Chuck Long | 231 | 19.2 (104th of 120) | 446 | 37.2 (114th of 120) | 83rd | 2009 | Brady Hoke | 280 | 23.3 (85th of 120) | 366 | 30.5 (98th of 120) | 84th | 2023 | Brady Hoke | 246 | 20.5 (114th of 133) | 321 | 26.8 (71st of 133) | 92nd | 2024 | Sean Lewis | 196 | 21.8 (110th of 134) | 242 | 26.9 (87th of 134) | 107th |

The results were very similar, but the difference with Hole was you could see improvement and expect the improvement to continue. What I see with Lewis this year is…
1) The players have terrible discipline. To make it worse, they are not learning from their mistakes so it’s not improving at all
2). The coaches are not holding the players accountable so it’s no surprise the lack of discipline is not improving. Example, Cooper flips off the other team for 15 yard penalty. He does not even get pulled out for a single play…. Or benched the rest of the game. That penalty wasn’t about good effort. It was about a poor attitude.
3) SDSU has been doubled up on scoring in the second half of games. Clearly the coaches have no idea how to adjust, or are too arrogant to think they need to make changes. Again, this is not getting better. It’s getting worse so I see no hope for the future.
4) Lewis plays favorites with certain players which adds to the coaches’ lack of adjustments throughout the game, or week to week. Unfortunately, I feel we’re gonna see a whole bunch of players leave in the off-season knowing how Lewis plays favorites. I guess we’ll have another rebuilding year next year?
5) coach Lewis is full of big talk, but he has no track record of success with the boasting he displays. I too, was fooled by some of his talk coming in to the program. But I can now see his actions are speaking louder than his words. I don’t see any maturity that should be causing him to make adjustments throughout the game, let alone throughout the season. his actions suggest he really doesn’t care about the results this year. He only wants to do things his way and hope it works out in a couple years.

My biggest issues by far have been playing time at the RB and QB spots. Nothing else has been as glaring to me. The one legit excuse is that our OL has been decimated by injury from game 1. May have been decent otherwise. O’Neil has been solid, but JTJ has been solid in his own right and actually IS a threat to run when he’s in. O’Neil has been playing injured and MAY be a threat to run when healthy. Regardless, 2 pretty solid potential QB’s and the only message we’re sending to JTJ is, “Very impressive. You’re the backup no matter what you do.” Forget which game Danny got injured, JTJ had 1 drive… TOUCHDOWN….. and never returned. He rode pine while a pretty injured O’Neil finished the game. Give him a CHANCE!
RB- love Cooper…. Pretty confident he’s not the best RB on the team. Maybe. But we have real talent there…. And it’s being wasted.
